Video Description
The engine for the whole show is the TLG, the database of Greek literature, and the search begins with three words: Hebrew, Judean, and Israel. Working the database, Ammon Hillman makes the claim that these terms do not show up until the Septuagint and the writers Philo and Josephus need them, and that the only earlier occurrences survive as fragments quoted by much later authors with an agenda. Ancient Hebrew is called a manufactured language built out of classical Greek, the argument of Joseph Yahuda in his study Hebrew is Greek. One example held up is ergasterion (ἐργαστήριον), a workplace that in common Greek also means a brothel.
Against that construction, the episode sets the reality it says the Greek sources record. The Scythians at the river Phasis are shown bathing by fumigation, and the droppings of a pheasant are christs that can be drunk with wine. Its blood is read as an antipharmacon (ἀντιφάρμακον), that is, a drug set against another drug.
