This episode starts at the place everyone calls the City of David and asks what the stones actually show. The stream walks through the tourist site, the low walls, the cave shown as a tomb, and the claim that three-thousand-year-old palaces sit below modern neighborhoods, and calls the whole presentation a theme park. Its point is that the archaeology in Jerusalem is treated one way and only one way: as proof of a Bible story that must be true, long before the layers are properly dated.
Ammon Hillman then reads the character himself. In the Greek text of Samuel, David takes the stronghold, moves in, and calls it his city, but he also takes wives and pallakides (παλλακίδες), which the stream translates as young girl concubines. The claim is that the founder is written as a killer and a sex trafficker, and that his famous song ends with a blessing on the people who seize infants and smash them against the rock. The passage is read not as a metaphor but as the raw instruction behind the war.
The close follows one name to its first appearance. Zion shows up the first time in the Septuagint, the stream says, and nowhere earlier, which means the holy city and the chosen land begin as words on a page, not as a kingdom known to its neighbors. It calls the whole system a genocide built on a fabricated past, and says the only answer is to stop pretending the pile of rocks is a palace and start asking why the story has to be protected at all.
