Video Description

Do male and female really carry two opposite kinds of magic? In this spacious video from Lyam Christopher, the answer begins with a warning against taking symbols too literally. The pillars of a temple, the interweaving triangles of a hexagram, and the old stories of men and women often seem to describe two separate forces. But the deeper truth, he suggests, folds them back together at the center.

He offers a luminous turn on yin and yang. The vast, unseen background is described as feminine, the mother from which every form steps forward. Every character that appears, even a female character, rises from that background like something jutting into view. It is all yang in relation to the hidden yin. Both currents, then, live behind every face, and neither belongs to one body alone.

The wonder of true kingship is exactly here: the one who knows they are an extension of the source, and not a lonely separate self, can act with quiet power. In a ritual, the polarity between partners is real enough to play with, but only as a story. Inside each person, the sun and moon already meet, and to see that is to be a little less caught by appearances and a little more enchanted by what stands behind them.

Okay, so in this video, we are talking about male-female polarity.
This is something that you can encounter a lot among non-initiates, people who are studying magic,
the tendency to take male and female as symbolism, literally.
For example, if you read the fiction of Dion Fortune, the way that she portrays magic, it’s as though women inherently have a certain type of energy to them and male have another and very different type of energy to them.
And it’s very good when those two energies get together, as though men and women are so different.
Okay, and then if you read her fiction, it almost comes across as though she’s really into romance novels, and there’s something very important about men and women getting together.
And she lived in a very gender binary time, of course.
So we can’t blame an occultist for having sort of a gender binary, you know, view of magic.
when we look at the male-female polarity that happens within the symbolism of magic
it’s important not to take it literally as i’m very often fond of saying on this channel
the adept lives in a non-literal way in fact really what i propose as one of the awareness
exercises for the portal grade that’s before you become an adept i recommend maybe doing
exercises and thinking in a non-literal way in other words nothing that you see should be taken
at face value okay so uh even when it comes to things in your environment it’s basically looking
at the world like socrates like you don’t really know what it is you’re looking at you are aware
that you’re slapping labels on top of things and using things in particular ways as though
they really are these things but you really don’t know what you’re looking at and so when you see
a male symbol or a female symbol you think you know what that is and yet you don’t okay it’s
very important to be able to see that way okay that way when male female symbolism and male
female energy come up in the study of occultism you can look more freshly at it you don’t you
don’t assume that the male energy is this way the female energy is that way let me just give you one
example of that the sun is often considered male and the moon is often considered female it kind
of makes sense because the you know the woman’s menstrual cycle follows pretty much in in tune
with the moon it’s a 28-day cycle more or less like the moon’s cycle and the moon governs things
supposedly like a gestation nurturing the home domesticity taking care of children fertility
giving birth to children being a midwife being a good mother things like that and yet the moon
is so much more than that because the moon is also a symbol of fluctuation of changing tides
and some of the most prominent gods of the moon are male for instance probably the primary god
of the pantheon that’s part of the golden dawn system of magic is osiris who is essentially a
moon god and he’s a moon god because he fluctuates back and forth between death and life and the moon
also represents death and regeneration so all these dying and living gods they tend to be moon
gods okay dionysus you know things like that uh so um so the fact that when things come forward
into the world and change and change is happening this is the world of manifestation where things
act the actions happening right so we have the active things going on and this could be seen
as the world of the masculine where it go out and do things right and we’re in the background
there’s just peace behind all that just there’s just peace and that can be seen as then a female
okay so in the in regards to the moon being a male force um it’s more like the sky behind the moon
like the night sky behind the moon would be female and then the moon itself would be male okay that’s
just one example of how you don’t have to get stuck on um sort of the encyclopedia definition
of what the moon represents okay and what the sun represents uh and the same thing goes for when you
see male and female energies going on in relationships and people or male and female
symbolism going on in occultism. And yet, in the mysteries, the ancient mysteries of magic,
women or, well, the feminine divine is considered all-important, all-encompassing, all-powerful.
And the male principle is really nothing in comparison to her. Now, there’s a truth to this.
Okay, so we’re going to go into why is the feminine divine so all-important, so all-powerful
in the mysteries of magic and various types of mythology, and why is the archetypal male
so afraid of her power, okay?
We would also ask, why is the male principle nothing in comparison to the feminine principle,
right?
And how do we revalue the divine masculine when this is going on, okay?
So in the mysteries, there’s a certain truth to the idea that the divine feminine is all-powerful and all-important, and the male principle is really nothing in comparison.
We’re going to go into that.
The problem is that I think that with feminism and the woke movement coming along, they’re sort of feeding off of this old truth about the feminine principle being so powerful and the masculine principle being so weak.
okay um feminism comes at us from a place of woundedness from hurt uh naturally um and so
and there’s a bit of vindictiveness as far as like okay well if men are stronger and all this
and we’ll just um find all kinds of ways to make women seem more powerful more useful and we’ll
try just try to play them up and you see this happening in the woke movement and things like
that where you they um the men are portrayed as stupid and pathetic and cowardly and the women
are portrayed as strong and courageous and a strong female character right um to the point
where even if they have skinny arms they could still they could still hold that two-handed sword
over their head with one arm like yeah right well um this is not what we’re talking about when we
talk about the all-powerful female divine okay none of this feminism and
none of those woke stuff is really all that important when it comes to the
mysteries of magic so we’re gonna kind of I think part of this video is to sort
of rescue and the masculine principle from being sort of denigrated by both
the feminist movement and by the feminist use of old mysteries to declare
that the goddess is all-important and all-powerful and that men are nothing
right we’re gonna talk about how it is that men are nothing okay so to get at
this thing we have to first challenge the idea that there’s a polarity going
on okay like in other words you have the man and the woman here right and one of
them one of them is more powerful or something like that right no no no no
OK, so this idea is that you have like sort of like two rods in a nuclear reactor and if they get close together, they heat up and cause energy or something like that.
Right. This type of dichotomy between male and female principles is mistaken.
OK, and it’s the reason for this dichotomy causes so much trouble.
It amounts to a difference between nested hierarchies and branched hierarchies.
and i don’t have a lot of time to go into that now and i might do a video just on the difference
between branched hierarchies and nested hierarchies because nested hierarchies that
the nested hierarchy view of the universe very often comes to the rescue when we’re trying to
interpret the most profound of spiritual texts we’re like what the hell are they talking about
i can’t understand any of this but if you have the key of how nested hierarchies work um a lot
of stuff makes sense and i will talk about that later okay and of course the nest the idea of the
nested hierarchy uh is rather feminine it’s female whereas branched hierarchies are more of a male
way of seeing the universe maybe we’ll talk about that in a future video and so in the temple in the
golden dawn temple and in your imaginary ritual space let’s say or you might actually have
physical pillars in your temple or physical banners that represent jacquin and boaz the
white pillar and the black pillar the white pillar being supposedly male and the black
pillar being supposedly female okay so these are set up in the temple to represent the branched
hierarchy view of the male and female principles light and darkness activity and passivity
supposedly and between them sits the initiating goddess the all-powerful goddess right uh this is
the high priestess is one of the tarot cards and it’s a symbol of initiation yeah where the hidden
mysteries can come forth somewhat uh between the pillars of manifestation and manifest to you in a
sort of veiled like way wavy veil and we have the two pillars again the black pillar and the white
pillar and this comes from taoism of course it’s a very famous yin yang symbol from taoism which is
uh asian spirituality uh we get the concepts of yin and yang the masculine is yang and the feminine
is yin and they here they’re presented as interpenetrating each other it’s a very
interesting idea so they’re very here they’re pretty much put on equal footing um well and in
In Taoism, the definitions of yin and yang don’t help very much, because to understand yin and yang, this is not the best symbol.
To understand the divine masculine and the divine feminine, this is not the best symbol to use.
It is a symbol that’s helpful, but it’s not the best one to use, I don’t think.
This sort of comes from the geomancy of Asian cultures, of China, I think it is.
and uh when they would talk about the shadow side of a hill which would be the north side of the
hill in the northern hemisphere um the north side of the hill is the shadowy side of the
of the hill and that would be the inside and the sunny side of the hill would be the yang side
okay so the yin and yang sort of come from geomancy um but uh they have those
the terms yin and yang can be interpreted much more profoundly and i’m about to show you how
So for our purposes in our magical ritual space, not only do we have the two pillars, the black pillar and the white pillar.
If you don’t have these, you can have a black candle and white candle.
And we also have the concept of the magic circle.
And so the way that we are tempted to look at this from an uninitiated point of view, let’s say, is that what’s happening outside beyond the magic circle is the world of action.
things are happening out there in the environment maybe okay and that’s where you go out into the
world and you do business and you you get things done and then you crawl back inside the womb
inside your magic circle and you just stayed for there there for a while okay and then you go back
out of the world and you do things out in the masculine realm of activity and work and and
fighting and whatever like and then you go back into into your protected space and then you’re
protected in your womb of like which is like a a feminine space okay well um it would be best
to look at this not as a place to retreat into okay so this is more a symbol of the universe
itself as a gigantic womb um and in the midst of it in the middle of it is the masculine principle
but it’s like a big mommy and the baby’s inside okay so rather than having two pillars now
we have a womb with a divine offspring which is male archetypally male okay that’s a reason for
that let’s see and when we take this symbol of the magic circle with the with the magician standing
in the center of it as the male principle by the way okay so when a woman stands inside her magic
circle she also is embodying the male principle she’s a child within that circle coming forth
okay and there’s a reason why it’s male okay we’re talking symbolically not literally
and so uh the magic circle when you elongate it uh you sort of get uh the aura shape
so around the body is an oval shape and that dot in the center now elongates into the middle pillar
let’s say okay and that minute that’s for that dot in the center now becomes this persona that
exists as a person that that exists in a line of the body it’s extended now okay and this is kind
of the line that we play with when we do the middle pillar okay this is also the line that
we evolved up through okay so we kind of evolved up from the brain and the gut which is um if you
look at trees and shrubs and plants the root system is the brain okay and that pretty much
is their brain the plant plants have a rudimentary nervous system and their thinking part apparently
is the roots okay we are related to that but our root system of course is in the intestines okay
so that’s called the enteric brain and we have evolved further from that supposedly up into the
cardiac brain which are all they’re also brain cells here brain-like cells right and then of
course we also evolved up into the head the cephalic brain and what that that’s the brain
that thinks it’s in charge okay and so as we’ve evolved up into here we have developed a a
detachment from the world we can see the world from outside of the world so the world is now
looking at itself through our eyes okay and in the process of looking at the world like this from up
here in the control tower of the head we developed this ego persona that thinks it really is this
thing that has to run around and look at things and grab things and eat them and whatnot okay
and then we we identify with that ego persona okay uh so this is and there’s so this whole
uh the the magic circle has now become uh turned it stretched into an oval and the dot in the
center has now stretched into the middle pillar and uh this middle pillar um represents evolution
from sort of plant-like existence through reptiles through to fit through fish through reptiles
through birds and whatever like um to uh humans uh sort of okay and what you’ll notice is this is a
this vesica pisces is similar to that idea and of course um the vesica pisces is symbolic of
the vagina naturally it’s kind of graphic now isn’t it there goes the monetization right
and this is a it’s considered a sacred symbol in many especially european mysteries uh naturally
because it echoes the shape of something that many men and women hold very dear it’s the place where
they came from when they came into the world and it represents the doorway back into where we came
from from the doorway back into god so to speak and lo and behold we have the male force the
the savior of humanity sitting right inside the vagina. Oh, my God. He is coming forth from his
mother into the world, coming forth from God and through his mother, who is his vessel or his
portal, his doorway into this world. That’s sort of the doorway back again, too. Yeah. If you wonder
why the Oedipus complex gives so many men so much stress, it’s because they have a tendency to view
their girlfriends as their mothers, because everybody secretly wants to sort of get back to
God, sort of climb back into the womb and go back to where they came from. And so there’s some
anxiety about when they’re having sex with their girlfriends, they’re actually trying to get back
to God through their girlfriend, which sometimes seems like their mother. Okay, so this horror of
actually having sex with your mother apparently occurs to them sometimes, and this can cause some
anxiety so we all came into this world through the vagina and symbolically it’s
the way to get back okay you need to wake up from that symbolism though so in
other words having tantric sex with your girlfriend is not literally your
gateway back into God symbolically though yeah there are things that you
can do ritually there are things you can do but it’s not literally the key to
that and neither is your girlfriend the key to you connecting back to God again
yeah that’s very important so what the woman becomes a symbol of the sacred
enclosure or even the the conduit back into the divine in this sense women are
perceived symbolically as closer to God than men are because men are out here in
world running around doing things fighting making a living dragging home a carcass to eat right
fighting off the enemies and the mom is at home supposedly taking care of the kids making sure
they don’t have any ticks in their in their hair or anything like that right um that and and then
she is the ultimate gate where all of the people come from and as such she is right up against god
god that were the divine or the realm of the gods whatever it is right the underworld and so she is
becomes more symbolically powerful because of that proximity to the divine that she supposedly has
is this literally true of course not okay however symbolically it can be very useful in magical
ritual and things like that okay and uh to some extent we buy into that mythic power without
realizing it why are mothers so highly revered and why are fathers such disappointments right
that’s all kinds of things to go into there all right so we have yin yang and dao so why is the
feminine principle all important okay this is going to rescue the masculine principle a little
bit too okay so um without yin and yang there’s no manifestation nothing exists all we really have is
dao okay which so there’s nothing that we have this perfectly calm flat tapestry of existence
and and since it’s not moving there’s nothing perceivable there’s nothing there okay when this
perfectly flat tapestry of existence begins to be disturbed vibration okay agitation
Tsum Tsum, as they say in Kabbalah, then things begin to become discernible in that tapestry.
So the vibrating background is the Tao, which contains both yin and yang, more or less.
And the interesting idea is that when there is a disturbance in Tao, it’s like a wave.
There are waves coming out of the ocean now.
there were waves that rising and falling rising and falling right and so the waves that are
traveling across the ocean that are discernible as things as waves are the yang the yang principle
okay and the background from which they emerge or that were the sort of you know um the seamless
tapestry behind them is the yin principle okay so another way to look at this is if you’re looking
at a if you’re in a theater a live theater where there are live actors you know on stage
and there’s nobody on the stage that’s yin okay but then eventually things will manifest out of
that background like like stepping forward to appear before the audience and when something
now steps forward from that background um it is now a yang principle it’s a character that has
materialized and they can now do things in the world of action okay and to a mystic that basically
means that um the the the unmanifest background of existence has sort of undulated and extended
forth part of itself and that is now embodied as a particular character that is standing forth
from the background okay so it has it is the universal background which is invisible has
bodied forth something because it’s um it sort of just billows forth and then have pretty creates
this thing on the stage right there in front of the audience, right? And then that character
finds himself on the stage and then you can go around and do things and move around and cause
actions to happen because there are other characters that have also emerged from the
background. All of these characters are yang principles, by the way, even if they are female
characters. The ultimate background is that the mother of all things is that which bodies forth
all of these different characters. These things that are bodied forth, all of them are considered
male principles because of the phallic nature of what’s happening there. When you yourself are
extended forth from the background of unmanifestation, and you now appear because you
are this outjetting force from the background, okay? So that means the background behind you
is yin becomes yin in relation to you standing forth from it which is yang okay this means that
all imaginary characters are yang in nature including female characters because the great
mother of existence exists behind them invisible as the sort of dark background from which they
have emerged okay and eventually they will recede back into her okay now the interesting thing is
that this is this is why the female principle is all powerful then because when there are male
principles or characters that have stepped forth and have materialized in the universe
and have arisen as characters they are they are thrust forth into this world very much like a
phallus right up jutting from the female force okay and that’s why you can see them because
they’re jutting out and sticking out in the world right it’s a phallic type thing and when that’s
happening, the background behind them is now considered female, and the characters in the
foreground are considered male, okay? And as you can tell, the incredibly huge background,
infinitely large, is all important. And the characters that momentarily appear on the stage
and then disappear again, they are not very important, okay? This is why the male principle
of yin and yang is really nothing in comparison to the goddess okay yang is really nothing in
comparison to yin however yin does not exist unless yang is present because if there’s no
yang extending itself forth into manifestation visible if there’s no yang there then no yin
is discernible so the yin disappears as well okay they are not truly separate from each other
as you can tell, and they are simply labeled by consciousness as different things when they are
not truly different things at all. They’re both the same principle, which is Tao. Okay, so you
might look at it this way. A wave that you can see stirring on the surface of the ocean is Yang
principle. The ocean itself is Yin. If the ocean is completely flat, then you really can’t see
anything happening. There’s nothing there. There’s no Yin, there is no Yang. Nothing’s discernible,
okay okay and then all we have is the dao or actually wuji would be a better principle for
it because when the wuji the wuji principle is in vibration it becomes dao and dao is um
the principle that’s behind yin and yang essentially okay so yeah anyway that is
daoist explanation okay this is very important to magic the male principle is that with which
juts out from the female principle okay and in some extent this this is echoed in our biology
for what are men but modified women remember the x chromosome women are xx chromosome men are xy
chromosome and so uh women are simply the the human seamless human race let’s say and then
men are something special. They are an augmented female. The X chromosome blueprint of human
proteins and expression and things like that has been modified slightly by the Y chromosome
to become physically stronger, faster metabolism, thicker skin, stronger bones,
often very much better dexterity things like that on average you know us for feet before
humans that is and also with a tendency to be audacious on display more visible more prominent
jetting sticking out at you very phallic in nature too okay you’ll see you’ll find that
that males of all species tend to behave that way it’s like a cock on the walk
basically right all right so now we have the mythology of the Golden Dawn where
they tune into Egypt ancient Egypt and the story of Osiris and Isis and Horus
and set of course too so Osiris was a great king who helped to civilize Egypt
and rescue it from the great flood and teach its inhabitants to stop eating each other
and develop agriculture. He is a god of agriculture, but he was eventually betrayed
by his evil brother, Set, and cut into pieces, long story short. And his wife was in mourning
for him and um and then of course seth takes over the kingdom and he’s an evil tyrant and then isis
goes into higher into hiding um isis doesn’t have an heir to offer the kingdom so seth rules with
impunity he’s not being challenged by the heir of osiris because there is no heir she hasn’t born
anyone uh yet and now she has a problem because osiris is dead he’s been cut into pieces so she
travels all over egypt to find the parts of his body which set has scattered everywhere
she finds the parts of his body and sews them together you can see the stitches there
she sews them together she does not find the phallus it seems to have been lost okay that’s
very important because um osiris is in the underworld he’s dead and he’s restless and
passive there and um i guess restless because he’s been murdered unjustly right and he there’s still
more to do in the world right um and so isis realizes this so she constructs a phallus
um sort of like a dildo and attaches it to the dead body this is like the original necrophilia
necromancy tale right she temporarily animates his body uh and conceives a child um and that
that child is horus okay and so um this is also a tale of immaculate conception except dead bodies
involved that’s not very immaculate is it but um you can see that uh isis is conceiving the
offspring of a god pretty much from the underworld of her dead husband okay eventually a horus grows
up to realize that he is the um the heir to the kingdom and he and he becomes a channel for the
powers of his father from the underworld into this world okay and if you study the zero equals
zero ritual of the golden dawn the hierophant is a very important officer in that um temp in that
temple set up in that ritual and when the hierophant gets up from his throne in the east
he takes on the god form of aurorus which is horus a form of forest okay so when when the
the hierophant is sitting on the throne in the east he’s in the land of the dead he has the form
of osiris but when he gets up and he comes forth onto the temple floor he adopts the god form of
auroras which is horus an older version of horus a mature form of horus because whenever osiris
appears in the world, it’s as Horus, his son, let’s say, right? And of course, each of us is
kind of like this, you know, we have an aspect of us that is in the background, in the underworld,
or in yin, or like has retreated back into doubt. Remember, when Osiris was killed,
every body part was found again, except for his phallus, which indicates that he has been
emasculated or any he has receded back into yin or into the underworld into the tao right and there
is no yin and yang for him until isis um gives him a rudimentary phallus does the ritual and then he’s
able to now extend forth into the world in a very phallic like way into her and then into the world
as the son horus who then grows up to avenge his father and to continue or to complete the work
that he was trying to do in egypt okay and so you can see that um this is the same principle again
osiris is in the background he’s nothing pretty much as it’s just dead god right in the background
and he’s retreated into the Tao, right?
And through the background of yin,
which yin is now represented by Isis,
through yin, he extends forth into the world as Horus.
Horus is a very phallic force, right?
And his mother is that which brings him forth.
He stands forth from her, okay?
There’s a lot of archetypal power
behind the very simple saying
that behind every powerful man is a an incredible woman or something like that
right in other words that’s really a more of a reference to the archetypal
power of yin and yang it doesn’t really have that much bearing on whether
whether that’s literally true or not so when you have a male female female
polarity that polarity is not necessarily between between two
characters on the stage between a woman and a man like this male-female polarity
is something quite different okay and so this is something that Carl Jung got
wrong when he defined the animal and animus okay and James Hillman pointed
this out to Jane had James Hillman it’s a new union psychologist and he
basically said that uh when jung defined anima and animus he would say that um every for every man
the um the outward persona is the animus and the inward subconscious persona is the the subconscious
is the anima and for a woman the outward persona is the anima and the inward persona is the animus
okay and of course animus is the male and anima is the female if you know your latin okay um
No, no, no, no, no. What James Hillman pointed out was that the outward persona is always the animus and the inward persona is always the anima, whether you are male or female.
Okay. And to demonstrate this, it can become quite clear. The way that you behave in the home, in your nest egg, in your enclosed safe space, the way that you behave there with your children and with your husband or with your wife or whatever like that, the way that you behave inside the home in your very intimate relationships, you tend to get that from your mother.
if you if you had a mother role or your mothering role models okay you tend to get that from your
mother figures and the way that you behave out there in the world of business and in personal
relationships or acquaintances and teammates and uh war buddies right um uh the way that you behave
out in the world you tend to get that from your father or from the male role models in your life
the fatherly father figures in your life okay so if you haven’t had a good father figure let’s say
then your ability to function out there in the world of business and things like that can be
somewhat hurt can be damaged by that okay and if you didn’t have a mother figure then of course
your ability to be nurturing and intimate and lovey-dovey can also suffer okay so what hillman
was pointing out is that the anima is always receded into the background into the home right
Where it’s, this is the nurturing womb environment and the extended fourth persona out there in the world that does things is the male principle, okay, archetypally male, okay?
This is why women, when they are in the cutthroat business world, they tend to behave like men, okay?
Sometimes they tend to overdo it because they’re overcompensating for somebody who might perceive them as not able to do the job, which is absurd, of course.
It’s simply the archetype that’s taking over.
When we live in a dream world, we tend to literally think that, well, women are better suited to the home than they are in the business world, which is absurd.
okay but we have to acknowledge that the archetypal power is still there because
of the way that we evolved okay so it’s important not to take things literally
but to also acknowledge the male-female symbolic power that exists pretty much
in our dream world which has its own reality to it its own power so anima
animus the animus is always the outward principle what this means is that the
ego is essentially male even in women okay and why probably why the ego is particularly stronger
stereotypically speaking in men and men than it is in women women tend to have a an ability to
relax the ego is this inherently true for men and women no we don’t have to take that literally okay
but the archetypal power is still there okay so the tendency to want to be tough and be the
cock with a walk and be tough out there in the world that’s a male principle that tends tends
to take us over if we’re not aware of what’s happening and the tendency to stay in the home
and retreat and be peaceful and supportive and things like that that can take us over if we
identify with being exclusively female which we don’t have to do that either and as you can tell
there are men and women who identify uh there are women who identify with the animus role very much
And there are men who identify with the anima, our caretakers and things like that.
There are men who work in HR.
There are women who are chief executives.
And, of course, what this means is that you have to remember that when consciousness is extended forth into the world, it can tend to get lost inside that role as this sort of meat puppet that has arisen in the world, right?
um and it might identify with that role and think it really is the guy who runs out there and
makes money for the family and things like that um when when a person identifies with their role
as the chief executive that is the worker as the person out there who’s making money whatever
when that when they over identify that with that they tend to become a dickhead obviously that’s
that’s pretty much um a dickhead is um an over-inflated ego okay and of course um this
is something that gets played up in the magical work uh when you do the work with the magic circle
it intensifies the distinction between yin and yang okay so that ego persona in the center of
the magic circle gets strengthened and the womb-like nature of the world all around it
becomes becomes more distinct okay and if you don’t know how to process that
that can make you into a dickhead an asshole okay what this means though is
that when there’s a tendency to call someone a cunt now that they’re really a
dickhead okay so the you might see it like this where the dickhead is more the
the the tip of the mountain right and the the cunt is more the bottom of the valley okay
and somebody who is standing out and always in the way and and cutting you off and and
trying to be visible all the time that’s really uh the ego force that’s jutting out into the world
okay it’s a phallic force that’s um flailing around it doesn’t know where it comes from okay
and so people who behave like like that are pretty much always the tickets and
the i don’t know why cunt has taken on such negative connotations not sure what that’s
about um maybe because of the fear of going back into that place where we came from i don’t know
so but it’s it’s very strange to call a woman a dickhead though isn’t it yeah so um but women can
be especially difficult when they try to overcompensate for their perceived femininity
or something like that they can become even more of a dickhead than a man can sometimes because
they’re trying so hard to make it in a man’s world or or all this nonsense so now comes the
myth of kingship where does the king’s power come from okay and the king is essentially masculine
it’s a masculine force so even if you have a female monarch her actions in the world her
her ability to get the job done is essentially a masculine force and this becomes apparent when
women take charge of the situation they tend to bark orders they tend to adopt a more manly
persona uh just look at the way queen elizabeth behaved and so uh this idea of kingship um the
problem with the king is that he might forget that he is extended forth from yin that he has
a yang principle that has extended forth from yin okay in other words he forgets that he himself has
come up from the earth herself the earth has given birth to him and if you’re free if he forgets that
he might abuse the very earth that he came out of okay so back in ancient ancient times it was very
important for the king to acknowledge the goddess as his ultimate superior and even to acknowledge
that he would die back into her so the king if he’s worthy of being a king is able to experience
ego death his ego dies so he’s he’s if he has a true initiation as a king he can recede back
into the mother goddess let’s say and realize that he’s not all that big a deal that all of
his power comes from her okay of course if he recedes back into her then she doesn’t exist
either all we just have is a universal seamless nothingness right done manifestation right so
and when he is extended out into the world and he’s looking around he knows he thinks he knows
who he is um he he has to somehow ritually remind himself that all of my power comes from her or
comes from you know mother nature okay and so the idea when people say the king is dead long live
the king this is something that um there’s a secret level of meaning to that um a king can
when a king gets crowned he symbolically dies back into the goddess and re-emerges again
pretty much as just a mere extension of her doing what needs to be done he’s no longer a
cock with the walk anymore he has to do his duty ego has died and this is something that every
magician supposedly has to go through they have to in order to really get the power of nature behind
him okay uh he has to let go of his outward persona and disappear back into the goddess
and then re-emerge as just a mere extension of her okay this is what we call light in extension
okay now he’s extended forth from the goddess that’s fine but we have to remember that once
he receives back into the goddess both he and the goddess disappear and all we have is the universal
unmanifest right but if he extends forth from the unmanifest then the background behind him becomes
the feminine divine principle which is the source of his power okay does she exist without him no
she does not does he exist without her of course not impossible he extends forth from her he came
from her okay so when the king has died we are celebrating then because now he can truly live
and govern properly responsibly not as an ego but simply as an extension of the goddess
this is why in the tantra of tantric shivism um the female principle is considered so important
now we can get confused though and think that well then i should have a female tantrica teaching me
right because that’s more she’s more powerful than a male tantrica no no everybody has both
male and female going on in their manifestation process as i’ve just shown you okay so both are
always present so when you have a polarity existing between the male and female female
principles this is a polarity that exists within you between it’s a polarity between the universal
background and the foreground between the universal background behind you that gave birth to
you and you up here doing business out in the world and that that fluctuation of energy that
you experience between manifestation and unmanifestation that is the male female polarity
of magic it’s not between the man and the woman okay but of course remember that which is in the
background is sort of your mother your mother aspect right and that which is in the foreground
is your offspring aspect or the sort of the male you know offspring aspect because it’s
cephalic in nature it extends forth from her these two together are you okay and that the polarity
that exists with every within every person is between that mother-son dichotomy okay whether
you’re male or female doesn’t matter there’s still that mother-son dichotomy okay there’s
the feminine principle in the background and there’s the you that is extended forth from it
in a phallic like manner okay and you can experience this very literally in your body as
as this sort of shaft this middle pillar energy okay and uh this is the the true
polarity between male and female principles so if somebody’s having tantric sex or whatever like
that they the energy is not necessarily between the man and women the energy is within each man
and within each woman this is why um not that sex is that important to tantra but when there
is tantric sex, it might be a better idea just to do it by yourself. In other words, masturbating,
okay, and using imagination and stimulation techniques, because the ultimate polarity
between male and female principles is happening within you, okay? Are these principles literally
male and female? No, they just tend to take on those symbols because of what we’ve experienced
of coming out of our mothers and going back into our mothers, supposedly, right? We’re going back
into Mother Earth. So which is better, male or female? It’s not a fair question because
we don’t really exist unless the male principle is present. In other words, the extending forth
principle is here. We are a character who has appeared on the stage. This is us in our phallic
manifestation. We have come forth. We have emerged from the background sort of in a phallic-like
manner. We are here now, right? That’s the male principle. And of course, if it doesn’t remember
its connection to the background uh it becomes um weak sickly actually yeah like many humans are now
right uh when we learn to connect back to our universal background which is nature the environment
to the unmanifest the invisible realm the underworld when we learned that we we have
extended forth from that week that we can then draw power once again from that background from
our feminine principle for lack of a better word for it and this power is represented of course by
the power of kingship the ability to sit and repose upon your throne and do nothing unless
the action is called for there’s an action called for and then you can decisively strike forth from
your unmanifest position into some kind of manifest action and then you basically go back
to the throne and then you’re not doing anything anymore and you’re simply observing okay so the
king as he sits there and observes what’s going on is in his feminine role but when he goes forth
to interfere in some kind of situation then he becomes the he adopts the masculine principle
and of course for uh for the adept for the magician it’s usually good to stay most of the
time within the feminine principle and simply simply exist in a receded sort of state not
doing very much this is the goal okay you don’t have to do very much and okay but occasionally
you will strike forth from the underworld let’s say right and go forth and manipulate something
do something and of course this can be a very harsh action too when you do that and then of
course you withdraw again and say okay like i’ve done enough um it’s better to let things run
themselves but i can’t leave you occasionally you have to run forth and stir something up a bit and
you step back and then you let things go again and let things go okay this is the power of the king
to do that most of the time the magician is simply observing and taking it all in okay sort of like a
universal sponge of awareness okay but sometimes you find him going forth to stir something up
in a particular way and then he receives back again okay and if you have a really good boss
at work let’s say this is the way they function they don’t really have to do very much but
occasionally they take a very strong action in just the right way and start it there stir things
up and it’s not pleasant necessarily right um that’s the male principle in action very decisive
very powerful okay and this can be experienced as sort of excalibur rising from the underworld
to do something in the world that’s fairly harsh but just it’s just okay and then it recedes back
into the underworld again okay so a tyrant would not be like that a tyrant is always in the male
mode interfering with everything that’s going on constantly interfering with this and that okay
which makes a mess of everything because of that okay so and when the male principles are in
balance this really means that um the feminine principle tends to predominate and the male
principle only, it’s imbalanced because it’s so harsh. So if we had, if 50% of your action was
male and 50% of the action was female, that’d be too much male principle going on. The male
principle is too harsh, too potent, too invasive, too penetrative, right? It’s only necessary some
of the time. So in order for them to be imbalanced, the male principle is not going to be that big a
deal it’s not going to be very audacious okay and you’ll find that the most
confident successful men tend to be very chill they have that regal quality they
don’t have to do very much and occasion but when they do it’s very decisive very
potent and then it’s not for very long and then they’re back to normal again
back into that state of confidence and repose again incidentally when when
testosterone and estrogen are in good balance and testosterone is relatively high, men tend to be
quite calm, not aggressive. The thing that makes them aggressive is when estrogen tends to
predominate, actually. Estrogen is the mood swing hormone. The reason testosterone gets such a bad
rap is because when it’s in excess, it quickly gets converted to estrogen, which then creates
mood swings okay so if you you know do steroids which is like a ridiculous spike in testosterone
like hormones uh that can gets converted to estrogen like hormones which um then cause
havoc great rage right yeah so if um testosterone is relatively high and uh stable and not constantly
being converted to estrogen then it tends to produce a very confident very regal persona
both in men and women women have testosterone too not as much though because they’re more sensitive
to it that’s interesting here the the king in ancient egypt or the nemesis strange headdress
right uh which i’ve always thought makes them resemble um a cobra and they have the urea
serpent that sits on the brow which also represents that coil that that that that power
that they have to sit on the throne unmoving and just chill right but occasionally that serpent
will strike and do something do something very decisive and then withdraw again and then just be
and chill again so that the the ability to take very decisive very powerful action just here and
there just a little bit that seems to be the symbol of reality or that that’s that sort of
power that they have okay which is it’s powerful because it doesn’t have to do very much it’s it’s
wisely employed if it’s constantly being used it’s invasive it’s destructive it doesn’t trust things
it’s paranoid okay so and of course that kind of regal power is both wield wieldable by men and by
women and of course this once again again represents the magician inside his magic circle
and the ability to sort of strike forth from that magic circle from that dot into the world
decisively here and there that’s the power of the magic wand per se or the magic sword or the magic
dagger okay the ability to do that and of course the the polarity of of tantra or magic the male
female polarity exists between the inner world and the outer world of the magician okay the inner
world being the feminine principle and the outer world then being the the male principle okay but
the male principle is harbored inside that magic circle and of course it occasionally goes out
there and does something surgical strike right okay and then withdraws back inside its mom again
right um and most of the time the magician is simply in repose in um just chill okay and this
is what we learn in ritual too we learn to embody these archetypes by doing magical rituals with
magical circles and symbols and things like that and then we become conscious of how these
archetypes work in the realm of the home in the realm of business in the realm of nature etc etc
yeah all right i hope that was clear i always worry that these things are too difficult
too strange the world of the mysteries is all at once very familiar to us because of these
these symbols of the mom and the son and the warrior and the king and all these things right
and yet the principles that the mom and the son and the warrior and the king um what they
really represent is not quite what we see when we take them at face value okay is it possible for
there to be polarity between a man and woman in a ritual uh and that polarity would be the same
kind of polarity that we have between the inner and outer world of the magician sure of course
that’s how we kind of work with these symbols to begin with but when the man and woman in ritual
literally believe that they are these forces that oh i have the i have the female force you have the
male force that’s just the way it is right that’s absurd we all have these forces available and
within us okay and the polarity between male and female exists within you okay and if you enjoy
that polarity the way it apparently appears between you and your partner that’s fine but
but that’s not literally there like that, okay?
It’s important to understand that.
Okay, until next time.
