The episode builds its whole hour around one passage from a text it calls the Gospel of Bart, the book of Bartholomew, and around the claim that the passage reads the names themselves. Ammon Hillman translates the Greek line in which the speaker says, the Father called me Christ when he sent me to the earth, so that I might Christ every person who comes toward me and receives the oil of life, and that he was called Jesus so that he might heal. From that the show draws two word-claims: Christ comes from the verb chriō (χρίω), and Jesus comes from the Greek verb iaomai (ἰάομαι), to heal, to treat, to repair, so that the name means healer rather than anything from Hebrew.
The second movement is a description of the devil pulled out of the same gospel. Jesus is read as saying that the apostles and Mary will fall as if dead when the adversary appears, and the passage then describes Beliar rising out of a chasm chained in fiery bonds, with a face like shining lightning and eyes of an underworld hue, zophos (ζόφος), a dank smoke from the nose, and a mouth full of ice. The show reads the name history out loud: first Satanail, with the ending that it says means God, then, after the revolt, simply Satanas (Σατανᾶς), explained in the text as the angelos tartarouchos (ἄγγελος ταρταροῦχος), the angel who oversees punishment in Tartarus, the informant of what has been kept hidden.
The closing scene returns to the garden. The devil is described scraping sweat from his chest and his hair into a vial and washing it into the waters where the four rivers come together, so that when Eve drinks, she becomes aroused. The show reads that as the earliest form of the prepared drug, the same poison it has long located in the hair, and it ties the four rivers back to the place it says the Greek text calls Edem. The episode ends by returning to the claim that the true Christ is double-named, and that the distinction between Christing and healing is the whole secret of the mystery.
