Video Description
Robert Monroe coined the word loosh in 1971 and said humanity was being farmed for emotional energy. This video from the Conscious Radical channel sets that modern claim beside a third-century Gnostic text that described the same theft in far more detail.
It asks where the word loosh actually came from, notes that Monroe himself later reversed much of the story, and returns to what Pistis Sophia says is really being taken from us. The video does not demand belief; it lines up the maps and lets the viewer compare the shapes.

In 1971 radio broadcasting executive Robert Monroe began writing books about his own
out-of-body experiences. He told the world that human beings were being farmed for their emotional
energy and to avoid any spiritual wording he called that energy Loosh. A Gnostic text called
the Pista Sophia also described this 1700 years earlier, even detailing how many years a soul
would be held. But what nobody seems to report is that Monroe coined the phrase but then changed
his mind about how to use the energy after his initial experiences monroe believed that earth
was a kind of energy farm with suffering and fear being harvested for external entities he came to
see that positive emotions like love and empathy produced a much higher quality of loosh and that
the process might be part of a larger positive purpose involving the evolution of consciousness
So in this piece I want to look at three things. Where the word Loosh originated, what changed
Monroe’s mind about its meaning and what the Gnostics wrote about the Archons and our soul.
To start I want to talk about an economist called Herbert Simon who wrote about organisations in an
information-rich world in 1971. He said that a wealth of information creates a poverty of
attention so just think about that for a moment when we have too much information
it creates a poverty of attention because attention is what information
consumes Simon used that term to consumes describing a market in which
the human is the input in 2014 researchers at Facebook and Cornell
published a study in which they altered the news feeds of over six hundred and
89 000 users some were shown fewer positive posts and some were shown fewer negative ones
they found that emotional states transfer at scale which means a company can shift how several
hundred thousand people feel by adjusting what they see on screen in may 2017 an australian
newspaper reported on a leaked internal facebook document that had been prepared for advertisers
The report described how the company could identify moments when young users felt worthless,
insecure, defeated, anxious and stressed. Now why would that be useful to advertisers?
Facebook later confirmed the document was real and that the analysis should not have been carried
out. So Loosh, it’s a word that you might hear bandied about quite a bit, even my mum has used
the term but it came from robert monroe who began having out-of-body experiences in the late 1950s
and he documented them he also founded the monroe institute which is still an active organization
the louche material is mainly featured in monroe’s 1985 book far journeys the version that circulates
online is that earth is a farm and human beings are the livestock fear pain grief and struggle
producing energy and something external harvests it in the 20s george gurdjieff an armenian greek
philosopher told his students in paris that humans were food for the moon his pupil ospensky wrote
in search of the miraculous which was published after his death in 1949 and it was a record of
gurdjieff’s teaching where he described that organic life on earth was feeding something
above it and liberation was defined as getting off the menu before gurdjieff there was charles fort
an american writer and researcher who challenged orthodox science and collected unexplained events
he offered the proposition that earth and all living things are secretly owned watched and
manipulated by unseen extraterrestrial or higher cosmic forces famously writing i think we’re
property. Now based on this you would start to see a pattern. There’s almost an
ingrained human belief that we’re here to serve some greater power, that the
energy we emit is of value, is food or fodder to some greater external being.
But in Monroe’s case, although the term Loosh had been integrated into our
vocabulary as a negative, he actually kept going and reversed his initial view.
the collectors as he called them had wiped out the fear and pain produced a
poor grade of Loosh whereas unconditional love and empathy produced
the highest grade in fact Monroe’s late position was that earth existed to take
fragmented pieces of consciousness to put them through interaction suffering
and difficulty to see whether they could come out the other side able to generate
love so he wasn’t saying the harvest wasn’t real but that the point of the
exercise was the experience would upgrade us now is it me or does that make
you think of Pixar’s film monsters where the monsters learn that children’s
laughter is worth far more than their screams so what was the Gnostic take on
this for this we can focus on Pistis Sophia in this the Archons don’t want
your feelings they want your light Sophia falls into chaos and is
surrounded by the Archons who drain her light to build and maintain their own
material world. In Gnostic cosmology Yad B’Auf is made from matter, from fire and
darkness and Sophia’s light is stripped and stolen which suggests our world has
been built from something that was taken. The Epistle to Sophia is made up of four
books and in book three of the four it resembles more of a rule book and for
that reason it says the most about institutions of control and what freedom
actually costs us. It describes how before a soul is placed in the body it’s given a cup of
forgetfulness and Plato described the same thing in the Republic. But why would this be? Why would
we need to be placed in a world with the knowledge of where we came from removed? The knowledge is
taken away and what we’re left with is a counterfeit spirit but underneath that lies belief
in the absence of knowing, which can also be described as having faith. And the text is
pistis severe, which translates to faith wisdom. So the counterfeit spirit sits alongside you,
resembling you in every way, guiding and reporting back to the archons. What is being described here
is a perception layer, something that is positioned between you and the world, that is close enough to
you that it feels like your own thinking. The external world and the perceived world differ
but the gap between them isn’t empty, something occupies it. That gap is occupied by a model your
own brain builds and the question worth asking is who gets to edit the inputs? Then destiny or fate
is attached with life and death already decided and when the person dies the text describes archons
who carry souls off and hold them for a period of time this is known as way of the midst and the
length of the time you are held is also very specific one archon would hold you for 113 years
and another for 150 years and eight months the soul is then consumed by dark smoke and wicked
fire before finally being returned to the sphere for another turn all of these conjectures centuries
before the term louche was ever coined the gnostics describe the afterlife as a series of checkpoints
where as you ascend you reach a gatekeeper who demands to know who you are and your response
would be to produce a seal a name and a password but remember this was written down during the time
of the romans these checkpoints would have been everywhere this was the roman customs system which
everyone lived under monroe saw agriculture and radio signals which happened to be his subjects
he suggested we were being farmed for our emotional energy and simon described how it could
be done both in 1971. so what do we see in our modern world well we see data centers attention
economy extraction of attention and engagement metrics but even though our language for
describing it has shifted we still feel that an external system extracts something from us
and whether it’s good or bad indifferent is argued we may think news filled with outrage is new to
us but it fear has always been sold to us think the hearst pulitzer circulation war in the late
1890s or the sensationalist reporting on murders and the macabre in the early 1800s we seem to have
an appetite for it. But still the real change came in the 70s when television stations started
hiring consultants who tested the news on audiences and rebuilt bulletins around what
produced a measurable response. So news began to be optimised way before the internet. The slogan
if it bleeds it leads was popularised by Eric Pooley who critiqued local television stations
for prioritising violent crime and gruesome accidents over substantive reporting.
Crises generate continuous news and in the late 80s the obligation to provide balanced news in
America disappeared. Even the and finally segment at the end of the news in the UK is gone, where
the last story was the light story that lifted us of a cat being rescued from a tree. We started to
believe in a mean world. George Gerbner’s research found that heavy television viewers overestimate
their own risk of violence and become more accepting of authoritarian responses to it.
Which brings us to the question, who benefits if we’re frightened? Because a frightened population
is apparently more governable, more purchasable and less likely to organise. But let’s not just
blame the external because our own actions have supported this. Every story carries its own
performance data. A study in Nature Human Behaviour using an archive of over a hundred thousand
headlines written as controlled tests found that each negative word raised the click rate by
roughly two percent and each positive word lowered it. So think about the articles or headlines that
show up in your feed? Which ones do you click on? Which headlines compel you to click through?
High arousal emotional stories, taboo, crime and tragedy, promises to improve your daily life,
the unveiling of withheld information. So where do we land with this? Is it one, our energy is
extracted from us to feed an interdimensional being? Is it two, our energy is extracted from
us to help us evolve where every experience forms part of the curriculum which makes it a little bit
unchallengeable because every challenge every pain every moment of suffering is for a purpose
is it three it’s political and financial so we’re kept in a low vibration because it makes us easy
to govern but don’t worry because there’s always someone who can sell us something to remedy our
feelings of lack to plug the unfillable gap? Is it four, it’s just who we are as humans and we
can’t do anything about it anyway? Well that feels benign. Or is it five, something else? Having the
belief that we are prey to an interdimensional being or predator is almost dignified. A cosmic
school is almost comforting and both are outside our control. However, being a line item in a
quarterly engagement report is a bit humiliating but it’s also true and also fixable. Fear is cheap
and love is expensive. Let me explain. If we were to take Monroe’s grading of emotions, fear and rage
are low grade. Pushing insecurity and humiliation is cheap to produce. Love and empathy are high
emotions and they are slow and difficult and can’t be manufactured on demand yet
every measurable thing about the systems occupying our attention is tuned for the
cheap stuff so regardless of whether anything is harvesting us or not we have
organized an entire economy around the lowest grade of what a person can
produce and we did it to ourselves but also guess what it’s failing 42% of
people worldwide now say they avoid the news sometimes or often when they
started measuring this in 2017 it was at 29% it’s now at 50% in the UK which is
plus four points from last year and 45% in the US British interest in news has
fallen from 70% to 37% in five years is this in protest or discernment is this
avoidance or waking up. The Pista Sophia provided a remedy for this. The answer to Sophia’s capture
wasn’t force. She named what was in front of her. She appealed. She sang. She was pushed down but
she kept appealing until she was finally restored. Her own recognition, her metanoia, helped rescue
her. In the story, Sophia’s ongoing appeal and recognition of her own light symbolises an inner
transformation. For us, metanoia means that by recognising the truth of our own situation
and consciously choosing to see things differently,
we begin the process of liberation no matter what external forces are at play.
