Ammon Hillman brings out a eunuch boy, Daniel, and reads his story as a third century Greek vision rather than a Hebrew prophecy. The Septuagint calls Nebuchadnezzar the basileus of Babylon, and when he takes captive youths to train for the royal court, the Greek asks for boys without a mōmos (μῶμος), without blemish, and beautiful, endowed with gnōsis (γνῶσις) and phronēsis (φρόνησις). They are taught grammata (γράμματα) and the tongue of the Chaldeans, which the episode reads as paideia, the education of Alexandria, written back into a fictional Babylon.
The mystery vocabulary follows. Daniel and his companions are paidaria (παιδάρια), boys still in the bloom of youth, and the naked oiled boy stares into water to receive the future in a special rite of divination. The word the Hebrew flattens to secret, raz, is read back to its Greek root mystērion (μυστήριον), and the channel argues the Hebrew cannot carry the eschaton (ἔσχατον), the uttermost end, or the mystēria themselves, the implements and performances of the Bacchic mystery. Circumcision is again called a diathēkē, a disposition of property made on the flesh.
The closing stretch returns to the standing claims about Abraham, the pirate captain whose gang traded in children, and to the New Testament land of fire and drugged eunuchs. The guest Gnostic Informant adds the Naassene preacher encouraging followers to watch the Hilaria and the mysteries of Attis, and traces the first great Christian schism to bishop authority versus personal revelation. The episode ends by linking the mystery to the far older Orphic tablets and to a drugged, ecstatic worship later tamed by the monist church.

the same as the Valentinians. The Sethians aren’t the same as the Gnostics either. They’re all
different. They’re all doing their own thing. They’re all Christians though. They’re all calling
themselves Christianoi. Now, the schism happens between two different groups of people. It’s not
Gnostics and orthodoxy. This is what it is. Bishop authority versus personal divine revelation.
They don’t want people to be able to say, I’ve gotten divine revelation, and this is what I was
told by the angel or God or whoever, by Jesus or Mary, whatever. They don’t want that because that’s
too much chaos. You can’t control that. You can’t corporatize that. Imagine you’re a corporate
mcdonald’s and everybody are all the mcdonald’s um franchisees they’re all just doing their own
thing selling their own products one of them sells chicken the other one sells burgers everyone
sells you can’t have that they all have to be in uniform and they all have to follow who who’s on
top bishopic authority the bishops rule the bishops decide the bishops determine things
like christmas and easter or whatever but that was what the schism was those people were fighting for
personal divine revelation and they call them gnostics but that’s not what they were it’s just
the freedom to express religion in an artistic way and to be connected to god by yourself they
didn’t want that that’s what they ruled out in the first second century that’s what became the
gnostic heresy that’s that and that’s why you get people like hippolytus and irenaeus and justin
martyr writing about these older sects that are gone and can’t defend themselves and and we’re all
we’re orthodox and they’re not that’s what happened it makes you wonder it makes you
wonder if they’re all practicing the mystery right it’s the central element that they’re
all supposedly involved in directly if i can go to the carpocrations and i can ingest the priestesses
um body fluids in order to have my communion that will take me to that place where i can see that
living dead girl and then come back um why would i submit to an episcopal or or a bishopic authority
right i it makes me wonder what did that what did those bishops ultimately do that quashed the
activities of those other mysteries that were harnessing the chemical and the sexual communion
i wonder what what do you think they did eventually they just start killing people or something
yeah it’s power they want the power i mean that’s so that’s just human nature is to strive for more
power the will to pot it’s everyone has that in them and that’s what happened with these orthodoxy
these bishops who are wanted to get they just want control over this over this church and it fits
better for a roman imperial system to have one church with one one creed one dogma and all the
cities you know had one text that they read one bible and they don’t have a no not seen document
no no gospel of thomas no it’s all just what we think is the is the correct which was word
orthodox means the correct straight way right yeah so what about the eunuchs do you like the
way i mean jesus is walking around giving out his death inducing drug um and he’s being christed
um he’s casting out the demons um how is it that um we drop the whole eunuch thing because he was

so one of the things i’ve been noticing about about how we can make inferences from from texts
that tell us stuff about other things for example when heraclitus talks about how he’s disgusted at
the dionysian religion how they worship idols and he says how they they wash themselves in blood
he says they purify themselves in blood as if it’s cleaning them and that’s what we can infer
from that that the dionysian religion at the time of heraclitus in the 6th century bce pre-socratic
times classical period we can infer from his text that the dionysian cults were doing some sort of
ritual where they were being washed in the blood of dionysus just like just like your water he was
represented by a bull in some cases sometimes a goat depends on what text we’re looking at or
whatever but he’s the ritual sacrificial animal which is what you get with jesus is the lamb
because he’s the passover lamb but what i’m getting at is you can infer things right you
can infer from that that’s how you don’t have to find a you don’t have to find in the bacchae
some sort of reference to them being washed in the blood of dionysus you can go to heraclitus
and do a cross-reference and infer from that there’s got why would he heraclitus make that
up right all right that’s one thing in the second century the nascen preacher told his cult members

why would he tell his followers to go and watch people become eunuchs for the kingdom for the

so i can infer from that that in the early second century middle second century there were
christians who had a there might have been something related to people becoming eunuchs
for the kingdom of heaven just as jesus says in matthew right matthew becoming king eunuchs for
the kingdom of heaven right so to me making an inference from the nascen document from the nascen
preacher there’s something there for sure i think it’s an integral element that people you know
because they don’t read sources like the one that you just brought up right they don’t they don’t
jump into that and be it’s because they want to promote a theology or a viewpoint and shame on
the biblical scholars for doing the same thing shame on them for it they fall they fall victim
to the same dogmas that the church wants them to they’re on it’s like they do the same thing even
if they’re not christians even if they’re atheist scholars they do this thing where oh they’re not
