This stream mixes two of the biggest arguments from Ammon Hillman. First he announces a new collaboration with the band Junius, where he will deliver what he calls the voice of Jesus, but the historical work underneath is a debate about where writing came from. He holds up a Greek Reporter article and argues the Greek alphabet came first, that there was no Phoenician influence, and that the Hebrew letters aleph, bet, gimel, dalet are really alpha, beta, gamma, delta. From there he reaches his standing claim: Hebrew is Greek, the Bible is Greek, and the music that makes the language work is in Greek.
The center of the episode is what Hillman calls Jesus’ theriac. He reads Luke 10:19, where Jesus tells the seventy they have been given power to tread on serpents, scorpions, and every dunamis (δύναμις), every power of the enemy, and he treats this as a theriac, a compound antidote. He then lines up four Greek words he says describe the earliest Judean cult: pharmakeia (φαρμακεία), drugs; porneia (πορνεία), sex; epōidē (ἐπῳδή), the magical song; and the rhythm and clapping that goes with it. His claim is that the drug, sex, death, and resurrection pattern was built into the rite, and that this is what the Gospels are describing.
The closing section turns to the text called the Ascension of Isaiah, an early text he says almost nobody reads, where the same worship is placed on Satan, the accuser who stands with the sons of God like the figure in Job. Hillman argues the first Christ was female, and that the priestess must sing the epōidē (ἐπῳδή), the incantation, or nothing happens, while the eidōlon (εἴδωλον), the image, is the doorway into death and rebirth. His conclusion is the one his whole channel keeps returning to: monism silenced that older music, and the Greek underneath the Bible is the way to hear it again.
