Video Description

The fifth workshop follows a live TLG search for Satan, and the method is a proximity search that joins two words and watches what comes back. Ammon Hillman starts by pairing Satan with dragon, a match that returns 29 of 29 works, with the earliest landing in the first century and a passage from Clement on virginity where the dragon and the devil appear together. To sort out the vocabulary, the hour separates ophis (ὄφις), serpent, from drakon (δράκων), dragon, and traces drakon to derkomai, to see, which makes the dragon a seeing thing whose eyes flash with fire while human seers like Tiresias go blind.

The search then catches the epithet polumekhanos (πολυμήχανος), resourceful, a word also used of Odysseus, and asks where the dragon carries it. Hillman reads Orphic Hymn 10 as addressed to the great mother, the all-mother called Nature, and notes that the same many-devising force the hymn gives her is the force the text gives the dragon Satan. The desire that follows him is named epithumia (ἐπιθυμία), longing, and the session keeps returning to why the dragon keeps appearing beside it.

From the dragon the group builds a second pair, iobolon therion (ἰοβόλον θηρίον), the venom-throwing beast, and treats the words like sonar pings. The search returns 171 occurrences and pulls in Cyril, Dioscorides, Galen, and a medical-astrology text, where those death-inducing things are read as bites that call for an alexipharmakon, an antidote. The session closes by naming Typhon, the many-headed lover of Echidna who stole the strings of Zeus in the old story, and leaves open whether Typhon is another name for Satan inside the Greek vocabulary.

Alright, I want to remind everybody that I’m going to be doing workshop right now, so we will need to make progress research-wise.
That’s why we’re here. I hope some of you were able to make it to the satanic congregations, Lady Babylon, tonight.
i hope you’re gonna make it let’s research say satanas again yes let’s do that audio is decent
thanks thanks satana elder satanas good hello i made it okay there’s yeah nice oh god love the
audio so here we go people i want to throw some things up i don’t want to waste your time i want
throw this up and i want to get going people we have the capacity to do proximity searches
everybody see this should we once you monitor thank you and everybody see this i hope so this
is the tlg and i’m just gonna put in our good old-fashioned satan and i’m gonna leave the
ending off so that it is free to play with it and um oh god let’s see i wanted to see where satan
and the dragon are found together in all of these works now what do we find here people look 29 out
of 29 works that is 29 works more than hebrew all of hebrew in existence just kidding it’s no i’m
not 29 out of 29 that seems like a fair amount right to find those look let’s do it oh god do
they have it at earliest okay people look what’s the earliest we’re gonna get when we put those
two together we’re gonna get first on a domini so remember this is contemporary with jesus right
oh god this is from letters on virginity by clement people why do you think the devil would
you can’t answer this just i want you to sit there and mentally ask yourself why you think it is that
good old satan the dragon is involved with virgins this is about virginity dog right surely
surely it has something to do with his power here’s epiphanius oh god we’re gonna jump all
the way to the fourth i don’t like that okay severance right oh god
what are the powers that everybody is always concerned about with that devil this people
always some lady god damn it i love it right blame her
okay look people we picked up in the fourth century so there’s three hundreds
on odomini right we picked up the dragon here with he’s the ancient one he is satan right
why do you think it’s um yeah also the office he’s the office people now for those of you who
sitting there i’m just going to talk to some voices in my head if you look up office you’re
going to find serpent if you look up dracon you’re going to find serpent how do you know which is
which and why is this guy both because you really don’t understand what the definition
what the definition is how do you ferret it out let me just do this really quick people watch
this if you think this is interesting i’ll check the notes in just a minute i want you to say it
Okay, office. I see some Euripides, and I see the Bacchae repeatedly. I see some Hesiod.
Aeschylus. Oh, look at this, people. Pindar’s Pythian. That’s the ode that Medea has her
prophecy, her oracle, or Hesiod, okay? Aeolian. Look at the dracon here, serpent-like bracelet.
it a little more specific you know it’s kind of a specified constellation okay now watch you get a
general feel get a general feel for it now notice they say like dracon well just why don’t you tell
me dragon serpent look what it says now we’re screwed right now we’re screwed interchangeable
what kind of moron put that there put that there seriously what kind of moron and it’s not
interchangeable, right? That’s how words work, right? There’s differences between them. For
example, a penis and a cock. You wouldn’t use those two words. You wouldn’t go to your doctor
and say, where’s the problem, doctor? Oh, it’s with my cock, right? You wouldn’t do that. You’d
say penis, right? There’s a difference. Even though you think those are the same words,
they’re not. They’re not the same words. Oh, fantastic. Serpent-shaped bracelet or necklace?
by the way people those were obscenities those were obscenities that type of language is
the obscene it’s the maculates right now you’re going to sit there and say oh look
almond we’ve painted ourselves into a quarter because now we know it’s interchangeable oh god
right look it’s the kerukeon the wand with the serpent coiled around it oh now people fear fear
not, for I am, I am with thee, I am with thee. Probably from derkomai. This is how we get out
of this hole. What’s the difference between the two, right? Look at the emphasis. Drakon is going
to be coming from this verb, which has its own history, right? Look how it’s used. Oh, Andromachus.
Off with Galen. That’s Andromachus, the physician of Nero, arch physician of Nero. He’s the one
collecting the formula that you really want but cannot have. This verb is used by him to see
clearly, not just to see, right? There’s plenty of different verbs that mean to see in different ways,
right? This is to see clearly. That is, this person has sight. This person has sight. Look at this
flashing fire from his eyes right okay people don’t you love that oh yeah i love it okay anyway
um look with favor on it’s flash claim yes yes so the derko my all these dragons are blind
right just look at tiresias for goodness sakes okay here let me go back the people have my
search back. Look at Tiresias, people. He’s the seer, right? But he’s blind. Why? Because that’s
how all good seers are. Even Homer, right, is bringing you this through the music. He’s the
musician who’s bringing you the poetry, right? So there is a difference between the office,
right, and the dracon. That’s the seer. Why do you think they’re guarding things in temples?
because they can see what you can’t ah this is all according to the apocalypse love it
the acts of philip this is fourth century is philip that late so okay more sperma
night people look what follows the devil around flee from the devil satan make go away from you
all his sperma. People, watch out for the sperma of Satan. Why, people? It’s all coming through
epithumia. Do you remember what that was? This causes disease, this thing. Epithumia. This thing
causes disease. People, I’m glad we looked up the dragon because I wanted to see. Now, the question
is, for those of you who are sitting there who want some riddle to solve or something, just, you know,
keep yourself busy mentally um why is it the dragon now is bringing up these epithematic
references these sexual sexual desire passion see how they say lust lust longing after something
what is your epithumema that’s the object of your desire well people your yearning desire
Anybody have yearning?
I yearn.
I yearn for a chocolate ice cream right now.
I could so use some chocolate ice cream.
Why didn’t we get any?
People, are people seeing this?
I’m going to look at the comments for a second.
Are people seeing the wondrousness of what’s going on here with the Satan and the whole desire?
It’s always the thing that she’s got.
What is it that makes us drawn to her?
Yearning makes you remember.
I like that.
That’s a good one.
that’s a good one right yeah some people some people do work on drac on etymology
oh nice this is good stuff isn’t it i think so is smoke coming out
jeff what are you talking about oh it’s your emoji is there
put it up again yes that’s right aerosophia i love that i like the name too by the way smoke comes
out of his nose, people. Get it right, right? Okay, so he’s got a fumigator hanging on his back
belt there, which if you think about it, that’s pretty smart, right? We could all use a fumigator
in the behind us. It would make life more pleasant. No, I want to keep diving. Can I share my screen
until people got this? People run from the epithumia. It’s all coming from the dragon.
You know who he is. Now you know why the Christians don’t want you to think thoughts about
doing, you know, doing the Aphrodite, right? Here’s Acts of Philip. Play from that dragon.
That’s the same, right? He’s going to make you sick in your soul, right, people? That’s what he
does. Everybody knows that love is a sickness. Don’t you people know that? If you put an eros
and um no sauce you’ll find that they’re diseased you’ll find that they’re they’re together oh look
people here we got zero four to five be uh ono domini look what is the serpent he’s palumechanos
now i’ve seen this word before but some of you have not look at it break it apart madelaine if
you’re here where’s uh where is uh um who is caitlin where’s caitlin god damn it caitlin are
you there if she’s there should we make her come forward step forward chat caitlin if you’re there
and say hey i’m here siri seriously there’s somebody called fuck you is she there is brian
there good brian if you’re out there say hello i want to do some questions about the greek hey
snappy, fantastic, here, okay, let’s do this, oh god, fantastic, the Greeklings who want to
respond, people, let’s figure out what this word polumekhanos is, any of my, any of my students
in Greek want to take a guess at polumekhanos, because we’re trying to find out what Satan is,
when, here’s an epithet of him, if any of them says they want to, let them chime in,
any battles or any ah mache oh yes the the similarity in the root is there yes um let’s say
mechanics right make mehana oh now it is true that battle is a whole running together of mechanics
right but because that’s the difference between battle and war right battle is that individual
action but let’s turn the battling into productive work so much working much proficiency
people let’s that was brian by the way thank you brian polo mejanos notice that brian is working
through its people that’s what you do brian by the way how was your class on how was your class
on the Homeric hymn to Demeter.
Was that good?
Yeah, it was great.
Just a deeper look at the story
and at the learning about Demeter herself.
Love it, don’t you?
Did you do the burning off of the mortality of Demophon?
Oh, yeah.
With first Christ.
I love it.
Oh, God.
Which is Orphic hymn number 10?
Polu mechanos, people.
Polu mechanos, look, resourceful, inventive, an epithet of Odysseus.
So again, mechano is really to construct something, to engineer something.
Like you have to use your brain to get this thing.
And polu is just that, very much more so.
Look at what you can have.
You can have counsel, right, that is polymechanic, that is very inventive or resourceful, right?
So, okay, good.
Orphic hymn number 10.
Can one of the students check
which Orphic hymn is number 10?
I want to see which God is receiving
the Polumekhanos epithet, please.
And the person that can get it posted,
Chewy, look for it.
Tell us which God it is.
Pan.
Pan.
Is it Pan?
Here.
Hang on one second, people.
While we dig, I’ve got it sitting here.
Hold this, Chewy.
People, it’s a workshop.
pride, so I’ve got to get up and walk around every once in a while. I’m looking at, through my own
hard copy of the Orphic Hymns, let’s see, number 10,
So it’s the mother, the great mother, the all-mother, they call her, nature. Nature, isn’t
isn’t that gorgeous so now you know why is nature aka here aphrodite who is the medusa
here in the orphic hymn why man oh she’s gorgeous right she is the selas fore
People, if you haven’t been there, right?
Potnia, daimon.
People, idea.
She is absolutely gorgeous.
Isn’t that amazing?
So this is the epithet that they are using for the great god.
Sexy, absolutely sexy stuff.
Mm-hmm.
Apator.
She’s erate.
Boy, she’s desirable, right?
Right?
Oh, God.
Megiste.
right filia oh she’s so pleasurable man she’s just gorgeous very powerful right you can’t get
past her right she’s a cool ray but she’s a pan trophy oh god she does it by herself people
she doesn’t need you all right okay so that epithet is used for her and here for the dragon
satan bearing the same epithet yeah isn’t that great here it is people and cereal of alexander
alexander excuse me oh god his commentary in 12 the 12 minor prophets fantastic now why is he
talking about that now see people this one this one i’m gonna look in the immediate environment
then i’m gonna say okay i’ve got to look at this one a little more closely research wise
he’s that one who’s causing that wandering so it’s always connected with the love people
what else is the dragon here in cyril oh okay here people you can help me with this one here’s
what i’m going to do look at the word that the dragon is here satan is here right this is satan
the dragon that is it’s satan he’s the polo kefalos right the mini headed what does that
mean? Anyone? Chewy. Does anybody have any guesses? Just tell them. Whoops. Does it have something to
do with the phlox? People. Somebody says hydra, hydra, hydra. I know what my many-headed things
are, right? Sophistes. Interesting. Interesting. Therion. People, look at the terminology that’s
round it right okay wise right that beast plants and diascorides good here’s the septuagint so we
know it’s there celebrated air on the fluke so called from it’s expressing the hissing of serpents
around the gorgon’s head expressing the hissing of the serpents around the gorgons anyone i’m going
to go back to the discussion i’m bringing it to you because i don’t think the greek students are
gonna have an advantage here unless they’ve seen it brian if you’ve seen this mini headed thing
you know let me know let me know yeah is it new typhon oh there’s typhon coming up is that’s fine
is staten typhon somebody said pelasgic typhon okay people who’s the lover of echidna right
where is the origination of the right it’s with a not the maid they want to suck
all right i’m telling you that’s how it works out vocabulary wise typhon is yes
did you write that in it it’s funny okay omg is satan typhon this is the question i live for i
Love that.
What’s that, George?
Is that George?
Good job, George.
Who is Satan?
Is he Typhon?
Right?
Is he Typhon?
Hmm.
Who’s Typhon again?
Oh, he’s that lover of Echidna who steals the strings, the neura, from Zeus and takes over Olympus.
declares it for the power of hypothonian divinity the queen herself the echidna queen
puts her back on the throne interesting the son of gaia and tartarus isn’t that gorgeous
it was nice i love the eye i was wondering why muse had me stuck on this and paula doris yes
look see right don’t you love paula doris i told you read him paula doris was the one that
Madelaine just took off with, you know, and she could feel like, you know, she could realize,
oh, shit, I’m reading. I thought chat might like this one. Okay, people, let’s keep going. Let’s
keep digging, should we? Do I need to? Okay, many-headed, good for him. Here’s more Cyril.
People, oh, look at these people. Who are the… Any of my Greek students want to tell me what
Iobolon Therionor. Iobolon. Bolon is just Valo to throw, right? Eos from Eos.
Venomous beast. Yeah. Yes. Good, Madelaine. I’m glad you spoke up. Look, people. Look,
that’s exactly what Madelaine had just said. Now, I’m going to ask you, if we put it now,
people sit there and think, what if we take this combo, these two words that are appearing with our
Dragon-Satan combo? Now we’re going to make a combo in another dimension. We’re going to build
this combo off of our Dragon-Satan and see what we get. We’re going to put Yilbul and Ther. Notice
i’m knocking off the endings right because we don’t need them you’ll bowl and say it i want
to capture all of it right so i go to my text search go to proximity you’ll bowl and fail you
know nobody’s done this we’re doing this together people right oh god it’s like a giant fun house
look people 171 holy mackerel are these in no these are not in chronological order i prefer
a chronological word for you, I’m sorry. Where do we first start getting these, okay people?
Essentially what we’re doing is we’ve made linguistic sonar. Now we’re pinging for these
two, iobol and ther, because we know that in the environment lurks Satan. So if we find, say for
example, Typhon, in the range within the field, you know, a few lines of iobol and ther, we know
that okay we’re hitting on some hidden architecture now she’d love that okay here’s Daphne okay um
where are we finding it first here’s a grammarian who’s talking about it it’s in the sibling oracles
okay okay okay we’ll get to that um sibling oracles again let me just scan these oh god did
you guys know that jesus takes on the form takes on the form of the sun yeah did you know that
yeah he transforms he trained no no he transforms i gotta show it to you it’s so cool because it’s
it’s like a straight up magical operation people we’re looking at the flocks again
and it’s scary stuff it’s terrible and scary people oh god
here’s phylo judeus ah fantastic sarco boron is interesting okay what are the differences here
between those ones that are sarcabolic and eabolic what’s this those of you who are doing
greek please oh you oops i substituted there we go what do we do oh come on that’s it we came all
this way for that oh look people i’m serious the grant my students who’ve been through the
intensive course you could have figured this one out all i had to do is look up
and the and the socks right yeah look we’re gonna squeeze something we’re gonna squeeze
something out of this come on this is stupid i’m not coming all this way just to get bunk
look at these god damn it evil damn it a little bit here people i’m gonna give it one more thing
here we’re just not this is just like not drilling or drilling here is no good and people this
happens this happens no i can’t catch a bus there’s no ubers here there’s no nothing
son of a okay let’s go back keep digging um we’re talking about different different
Eobolic, flesh, those flesh consumers and those venom hurlers, right?
Hormodze, what are we talking about?
We’re talking about something that’s going to help.
Hormodze kai eobolois, theiriois, kai thanasimois.
What are we going to need help with?
We’re going to need help with those eobolic beasts, right?
And those thanasimois, those death-inducers, okay?
Look at this, people. Death-inducers. Now, you think, okay, that’s not a finding. But remember,
why are we here? We’re here because of this couplet, this eobolic, beastly thing that’s
going on. Creatures that have this power of sending the venom. They’re coupled with the
death-inducers. So, you can say in the back of your mind, wait a minute, I may see context where
the devil is behind the scenes when they’re when the death inducers are taken out what else is it
what does it tell you just on a basic level it tells you that dioscorides who is a see they’ve
got med there he’s a physician he’s writing the day materia medica the it’s about medical you
know supplies medical drugs right things that you’re using as drugs here it’s smyrna right
that’s what we’re using. Anyhow, we’re going to find that it helps against these, you know,
death-inducers and other things, more diascorities. So what is diascorities treating? He’s treating
the bites. How is he treating them, people? Look, I didn’t plan this. Hey, fuck you, right? All those
people out there who were rooting against the Christ, look, what is it? It’s a Christ thing,
people oh god if you’re if you’re unfortunate enough to be scorpion bit remember how we looked
up in a grammarian on lady babel that grammarian said hey um the difference with the christ thing
is the christ thing has to as opposed to the alepho the anointing this is the christ thing
has to do with the treatment of venoms and whatnot yeah look there it is for scorpion
ride all of those poisonous little spider fuckers ride oh god there’s thesalis oh god i hate getting
into this people okay here i’m gonna here i’m gonna quake in my shoes a little bit everybody
take a look at this this is thesalis the astrologer and physician he is talking about medical astrology
have you ever looked at medical astrology well this is a book on the powers of plants
de virtutibus erbarum, from the powers of plants. Nice classical pronunciation.
Areos botane, my students be thinking about it. Is this the plant of Ares? God. Look at what it
says, pohulos, pulos of this thing, the chyle. This is often translated chyle. What does it do?
It works against ta, people who are in the Greek. Look, here’s the definite article.
Here’s the noun that it’s with. The bites of the eobolic beasts, right? It’s got to be prepared
in a specific way, and then he’s going to go on. He’s going to tell you how to prepare it.
It’s the plant of Aries, you people. Do you see how much? Look, here’s the theory, right?
People, we are talking about holexifarmakos, the antidote, teritonanacimon, you know, that applies to those death-inducing drugs, right?
And who are using these, right?
People, oh, God.
People, is it Dyschordes or, no, it’s not.
It’s, oh, I’ll think of his name in a minute.
Just a second, we may see him.
Here’s Serenity’s magic and natural history.
Remember, we’re getting here all from the devil,
so we need to see, are there other,
if we find any other words that are connected
that’ll bring us back to the devil,
we can say, oh, it’s under the surface.
More of Serenity’s, what are you doing?
Yata, elke, theiriodekta,
those who were bitten by that eobolic creature.
those those guys can be healed how are we going to heal it here this is just interesting just
because it was copros anybody opros guys exactly i’m glad somebody got it right that’s the shite
that you’re going to put on with the and that wine and you’re going to drink it
shit wine yeah you know what people if you were
you know you wouldn’t mind if you were stung by something and the doctor was like here drink this
shit wine, right? Come on, man. It’s an anti-pharmacon, people. What’s an anti-pharmacon?
Something’s blood, the blood of this thing, right? It’s further up on the page. We don’t have the
lines, but it’s further up on the page. But there, it’s the blood of something. This one brings
pepsis. Anybody want Pepsi, right? Eustomachion. Do you want to have a good stomach? It’s what
you need. A little shit wine. Was that the shit wine or was it the one before? Somebody make
shit wine please okay people just stop just stop right there motherfuckers we dug all night
somebody get that off hey you gotta bleep that or something too you gotta bleep that
whenever i say people we’re gonna end with this i know it’s early but this is the this is the true
gym okay let me just remind everyone how did we get here we got here from using the search pair
that is satan and the dragon when satan and the dragon are there we also get the eobolic beasts
and when the eobolic beasts are there we get specific serpents aspidas basiliscus and some
other guys we get leopards and lions and i don’t remember what the school moves are and echidnas
people vipers okay that’s fun is this in a medical manual no what are the schooners now i’m curious
what’s being paired with those people there’s so many fucking greek words okay cub or whelp but
specifically the what lions whelp okay that’s probably why there’s a lion’s there lion there
so the whelp of the lion fantastic well in poets it’s also used the people like achilles
used of women nice some lyric poet it’s got good shit right no what’s in the
or style that’s interesting okay so it’s that whelp okay people see right you
could have you could have surprised me and thrown that out and other than like
oh shit otakus what do you think otakus is anybody anybody yeah very good nice
job what is that anyway lions tigers and bears people oh my god why is that in the realm why is
that in the region of the theia yobola i understand the echidna i don’t get the lion why are these
lions and leopards why are they all always uh in the in the mix because the last thing i checked
lions are not poisonous but for some reason this is in the first text by the way i’ve seen this
in i’ve seen this over and over and over again the funny thing is i find it mostly in the apocrypha
right jesus is always refined or the apostles are always reviving some fucking leopard right
cersei right dionysus why the eobolic nature of the beast it’s got to make you change your
definition of eobolic just a little bit right people right love it love it basilisk oh god
that’s now people notice where this is from this is the testament of abraham this is the testament
of abraham people what is it coming from first century first century yo bruh this is contemporary
you know who’s reading this stuff yes i’ll give you bitches one one guess should we tell me if
any of them let me see jesus jebus naughty paul philo it’s a little bit you know it’s a little
bit late, but okay, right? Philo’s got a bit of shit to read, blah, right? No, but yes, you’re
right, Philo. Jebus is the one I’m looking for, right? Why am I looking for Jebus, right? Why am
I looking for Jebus? Because you will see things in this work, the Testament of Abraham, that are
things that Jesus says directly, right? Does this thing go back as early as the first BC? Oh, God,
notice people on a lot of these look at one to two oh god is he using it as a source
herennius philo the grammarian i’d like to take it back a little earlier i’d like to put it the
testament of abraham like the first bc but whatever okay i love it man oh look there’s galen right
oh god he’s so he exaggerates all the time right galen’s but he doesn’t lose as many
patience as anybody else so you know maybe it’s he’s being a little bit careful okay people it’s
going to go on and i just want you to see this is the way that we’re surfing trying to figure out
where all of these i’d like to see tedios i’d like to see five more close see people we’re still in
the same we’re still in the same universe we’re dealing with these eobolic animals and treating
them and using the drugs that we use in the treatment of them in medicine not just in
treating the dagmata right those are the bites and or stings right what’s the qualities of again
look what a bastard this guy’s a funny bastard hot that’s hot is it moist is it dry what is it
why is it cassia cassia is used a lot in these antidotes specifically for the thana simon
pharmacon and the eobolos those are the the ones kinamomo i don’t know this this one the
cinnamon’s used all over the place dude i think it’s pretty much a base i think you’re doing
something with i don’t know fucking ph or something when you’re using that people look
at this how much of this there is as soon as you bring out those eobolic those venomous creatures
you’re you’re tied down to the thanosimon pharmacon the death inducers now people you
realize if we say death inducer if we say death inducer to anybody on the outside like a christian
for example like wes hoff if i were to say you ever what do you think of the death inducers
he’s not gonna know what the fuck we’re talking about but this word is used the same word is used
with jesus he says this right it’s in the it’s in the music oh god let’s end with that tonight
people look and i hate these are great passages i don’t mean to pass these up people because
this is all the stuff i’ve been telling you about for a long time but i see this
you know i’ve like i know this passage right he’s talking about the theriac again the theory look
what he does here though he specifically classes it as an antidote that’s galen right you’re not
going to see that all over the place specifically oh that’s right oh god this theriac’s a good one
this book in particular happens to be a good one people very scientific and very lovely
Chewie, can we listen to the song by Junius that has the Greek in it?
Can we do that on here or no?
You think so?
People, have you listened to the Greek in this?
I know it’s kind of an otherworldly, devilish kind of voice.
It’s not going to be on there, is it?
Just put up one of our entries.
No, people, it’ll sound terrible.
People will hate it.
Let’s see.
Do we have it on the other computer?
No, okay.
We’ll get it next time.
It’s okay, people.
listen to the intro that we play. Listen to the intro that we play, and you’ll hear the Greek in
it. It’s the verses from Mark when Jesus says you can drink the poison, etc., etc. That’s the same
word we’re all looking at. Now, I want to ask a couple questions before we leave to the people
who are working on the Greek. Did Caitlin ever show up? She’s not. Okay, let me start with Brian.
brian just give me a few um tell me a maybe a couple of works or authors that you’d recommend
to people who are just starting out who are uh maybe just making it through the intensive course
because a lot of people are watching it on lady babylon what give me two authors that you would
recommend to people to go to and read the hell out of it in english please um definitely uh
And Bacchae, yeah, and Iphigenia, I loved that.
And I’ve been trying to explore musical texts, so like, I’m trying to think, oh, Aristoxenus or whatever.
And there was a Latin one, but that was good in English.
Good, and any time you get a chance to read some Latin, it’s not going to hurt you.
You know, I’m saying in English translation, right?
it’s not going to hurt you to you know do it and classes have to have latin you know as well so
they can read the you know the few latin sources we’ve got anyway there’s a lot anyway um good
and how about um tell me you know you’re sitting there what i want to do is you’re sitting there
as a student and you’re trying to go through these lessons and you’re trying to pick them up
You’re trying to memorize a vocabulary.
You’re trying to make it from one lesson to another without losing continuity.
You’re going through that.
You need something in the back of your brain to say, hey, there’s some goodness still in the world.
When Madelena read Apollodorus and did some of his, you know, myth in the library, that kind of like, you know, it perked her up.
It showed her, oh, the material is actually really good out there.
so when you’re doing that like jeff says that heavy lifting you’re going through that course
remember every once in a while you’ve got to raise your head above the water and you got to take in
some of that real that real beauty you know what i mean so um if brian were here he would also tell
you the bokai that was one of the first things that we read together was the bokai and um brian
saw through that experience that he could work his way through an entire
work he saw that he could you know follow lines that he could prep and
maybe have 20 30 lines prepped right so I want people to realize they’re good
this is the direction they’re going to be going if they’re working through the
intensive course or they’ve done it now for the students that are here like
Madalena Jason I want you to do this too Caitlin if she’s there if she can if we
We can find her.
We want her to do it.
Kate, I would like for you to do this as well.
I would like you to take the first 20 lines of the Bacchae.
Will do.
Just Dionysus’ speech, right, to the world.
It’s his, like, opening to the world.
And because the Bacchae is so special,
I want people to see the real Greek that is there to get us down to the next level.
because i’m going to use that as a springboard for satan and you think how’s he going to do that
right i’ll show you with the language so if for thursday i can have pate and madelaine and jason
and others brian if he’s here if you can read very well the first 20 lines learn the vocabulary
so that you can sit here and translate it at sight let’s do that on thursday and i want you
to be paying careful attention
to all the cult terminology that’s there.
That’s what I want you to see.
So we’ll start out with that on Thursday at 7.
And then we’re going to try another…
I’m going to speed the searches up now in the workshop, right?
Because when I’m talking to you about the text,
I’m slowing down.
So I’m going to speed it up a little bit
and I’m going to do a compound proximity
a search that involves
three different routes so that we can get
really specific with Satan.
Okay.
Sounds awesome.
Fantastic. Copy that.
Good, good. Fantastic.
Okay. And on Thursday, I want
to have, today I’m going to run, but
I want to have, oh, I want to have 30
minutes of questions
from people who are coming and
watching, like Carlos.
I want Carlos to be able to ask
open questions, right?
And I want to, you know, I want to pick your questions and say, hey, right, there’s Carlos.
Thank you.
Carlos, you deserve it.
Carlos does a lot of work behind the scenes, too, right?
There’s a lot of people here that do that.
I don’t think enough people, right, who are always here.
And shout out to Joseph, who was in the, Josh, I’m sorry, God damn it.
Josh, you got to step forward and we got to meet each other.
Is Josh here tonight, by the way?
Can you figure it out if Josh is here, Chewy?
i don’t think say if hey josh do you want to say something about your experience just really quick
just what is your you know what is what was your takeaway from that whole experience with
with the ambush josh what’s your account name yeah oh you gotta tell if you want to speak you
gotta tell chewy you got it this is josh fantastic hey how’s it going y’all good so my experience
I’m an ex-Mormon. I saw Ammon’s video with Neil a long time ago, years and years ago, and two years after exploring Ammon’s content, I decided to take it upon myself to buy a Hanson and Quinn book, and I independently wrote out each exercise for each unit and completed them myself.
It took over a year. And during that period of time, I was emailing Hammond while I was doing it, updating him.
There was moments where I paused for months because I didn’t understand the material.
I didn’t understand the morphology. I was like, what is the middle voice?
I just didn’t get it. I was like, what are these endings for a long time?
I was like, I don’t understand what it is, but I let it simmer.
And over time, I was able to complete all 20 of the units by myself.
And I mean, just watching Ammon’s content and understanding how the textbook explains the units, you can go through it yourself, write out those exercises, and you can see the different declensions that the nouns are in.
You can see the articles, how they match with the nouns.
The verbs have, let’s see, seven tenses and four moods and voices.
I mean, it’s got two different aspects that I’ve been studying.
It’s been a long journey because, you know, going from Mormonism to knowing ancient Greek, it’s a huge leap.
It’s like going in the moon all of a sudden.
So I would just say I really appreciate Ammon for everything he’s done.
And if I can do it, anybody can.
Really, there’s no excuse, especially because Madalena did it, too.
Anybody can do it.
She’s a mom.
i grew up with a single mother and i know how difficult it is just being myself you know like
so the fact that she can do it with kids anybody can do that anybody can take the time to learn it
and i’m tired of people discouraging uh the study of ancient greek and trying to retrofit uh
semitic letter names and saying that the words like alpha beta came from hebrew they didn’t
there’s no textual evidence that supports that claim uh that’s a modern invention so tell me
Okay, first, I’m going to interrupt you, but this is – you have to come on next Lady Babylon.
You have to be there.
Can you come on Lady Babylon next time?
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, here’s what I want to tell you.
What I want you to do now is I want you to – if you haven’t already, take a look at the Hebrews Greek.
Have you done that?
I mean, I know that’s a book, right?
I don’t know who that’s by, but you don’t need to read that book to know what I’m saying right now because you won’t find an abjad.
Yeah, and there’s lots of theories about why, oh, well, we think we can reconstruct the Greek from the Hebrew, and oh, well, what if the Hebrew actually came from Greek?
The truth is you won’t find a Semitic abjad that lists the letter names like Aleph, Beta, Gimel.
There’s no ancient text that lists those letter names out next to those letters.
That’s made up.
Oh, God.
Okay, here, Josh, here’s what I want you to do.
okay now that you’ve been through the basic course this is what i want you to do um can you see this
the book i’ve got up in front of you uh yeah yeah i can okay here’s what here’s what i want you to
do i want you just to peruse it like when you have some extra time i want you to peruse it and i want
you to skip through to wherever it is that you see greek i want you to skip to to wherever it is that
the easy greek and i want here i want to read this to you first because you particularly are
going to enjoy this by the way how was it being bludgeoned did you like being attacked or was that
no good i knew he was going to pull up that text and i knew i was going to say something about
teeth and i wasn’t sure how that was going to go i’m not sure if i was able to fix it but i mean
that’s just an argument about semantics anyways right right really not an argument here i’m going
to go to page 17 and i just want you to see this you personally i think find this quite
look at what okay look at what conclusion he came to here at the bottom this is at the end of his
like his method section right he says actually the whole complex is consistent and only consistent
with two propositions so all of his research leads to two possibilities number one biblical
hebrew is greek and that the hebrews were asiatic greeks right oh god right in fact the outcome of
my labor’s extensive and elaborate research may be summed up in a brief sentence hebrew is greek
with a mask on now people he’s gonna go through he’s gonna go through and he’s gonna say things
that are gonna you know it’s obvious why this book got totally butchered when it came out why
you can’t get copies of it right except online here we got it all over the place look in his
look that hebrews were asiatic greeks oh yeah he even goes through he talks about the hittites
being scythians and exactly how they fit into the scheme linguistically i mean and he uses look he’s
talking about the asiatic pelasgie yeah right exactly look what he’s doing can you see it
It’s amazing, and watch the Greek.
Now that you’ve got the intensive course, I want you to look it up.
Does that say Pulaski?
Yeah.
Pulaski.
Yeah, Pulaski.
So you’re saying it says, boy, Pulaski.
What?
So why do they have all these Hebrew letters in here?
like the fact that he had to make this book to it shouldn’t even be necessary because there’s no
evidence of semitic letter names so the fact that he’s got to write this book to dismantle
or to defend himself in these arguments is kind of absurd like yeah yeah and ultimately
josh he lost the fight ultimately he lost the fight he got poo-pooed and called it if you read
some of the reviews i had some reviews up that i didn’t show during the shows right yes um look
what he says in number seven the helots right were israelites right think about that for a minute
he’s basing that on um not philo but on josephus he’s basing it on josephus because josephus comes
out and says the you know hey there was this lacedemonian there’s this lacedemonian which
For those of you who don’t know, that’s Spartan.
There’s the Spartan king, right?
The Spartan king comes out, and he writes to the Judeans, and he says,
hey, we’re cousins, right?
You guys are all from, you’re all Laconians.
So anything you need, you know, we’ve got your back,
and we expect that you’re going to have ours, right?
Sam, and how do the Laconians train their soldiers?
Don’t they raise them from birth?
It’s seven.
Oh, God, it’s seven.
They send them out, though.
they kick them out and they make them they hold soldiers yeah they make them survive by stealing
yeah right right wait did that come up in the oh it came up okay tell me tell me about that real
quick how that came up uh well thievery uh well there’s a another ancient word called epiro and
it means thief and like a caddian or some shit i don’t know but it did what is with the thievery
and the licentiousness going on with the ancient Israelites.
What’s going on there?
Yeah, it’s a thing, you know?
It’s a cultural thing to develop the ability
to procure resources at the expense of others.
And remember, those Spartans kept the Helots down.
Man, that’s just terrible.
The history there is terrible.
You want to talk about fucking genocide?
that they could catch you out in the middle of nowhere
and they could kill you if you were beyond, you know,
the time that you were supposed to be out.
It was the wrong day of the year or it was the wrong time, right?
Look what he says in 8, Hebrews worshiped Greek gods.
Now, remember, this is a Jewish guy who’s just doing the linguistics
and he’s saying all of this crazy stuff,
all of this crazy stuff that certain Greek words
pronounced by continental greeks differently from their european brethren found their way back to
greek in a spelling conforming to their continental oh gosh atavisms oh that’s good that’s gonna put
me to sleep i can’t like that he has to like double speak almost just to get this out on paper
like he’s got like oh well i gotta put in some hebrew here to try to support like he’s double
speaking because he’s saying that the israelites worship greek gods he’s talking about um the early
phoenician cultures that would have adopted like religions about sky gods like ball and yeah his
influence his influence will be directly through that channel where he’s going to be talking about
middle eastern deities because he’s influenced that way look what he says though i mean that’s
where he’s coming it’s almost like i want to i want to grab him the whole time he’s writing this
from what i’ve read i want to grab him and say okay you think that the hebrew is being taken
from the greek what if that’s on purpose what if it’s like intentional what if it’s like
the creation of a language that’s not actually used right and that’s you know i don’t i don’t
know look what he says here in this connection is vibe to identify by my theory the different
peoples who inhabited canaan he’s talking he’s talking about hebrews as greeks so he’s going
to talk about him who does he talk about the amorites who are the camellia okay just okay
for now just keep it in your head okay canaan giving him like 10 different names for the same
guys canaanites foiny keenoy look what he’s trying to do though right the gergashites are the
graikoi look what he’s again look what he’s doing he’s trying to get he’s trying to get the link
in the languages and he knows that the hebrew is taking from the greek notice he says the
hittites are the skuthai right some of his derivations you think there’s no fucking way
and then he shows you oh yeah it’s possible yeah okay so i’m i’m i’m just watching his
possibilities the parasites are the phrygians okay the jebusites the oceans the cyprians or
the koftorim right people because the achaians right we don’t we don’t have right right the
achaians right the koftor we don’t have any fucking there’s no record of those people he’s
talking about the cypriots right he’s trying to show you that the greek is the original
but he doesn’t he still lives by this myth that there’s an earlier hebrew there’s an earlier
hebrew uh text yeah anyway it’s for you here’s what i want people to do here’s what i want people
to do when he does things like he’s looking at definite articles that stuff is easy to follow
i want you to see how you can trace the definite article through the greek that shouldn’t be
happening right the the likelihood of this happening any other way and he talks about the
alphabet josh let’s end with this what is what what is your what is your opinion of alif bet
gimel dalit alpha beta gamma delta listen this whole book that we’ve been talking about and
showing he’s showing all these hebrew words hebrew itself is an evolution of the aramaic dialect
So one, it’s not none of the vocabulary that Hebrew uses is unique to its language.
It’s using all these other words that are also occurring in other Semitic languages like Aramaic, which, by the way, comes from Phoenician, which we know was brought by Cadmus.
That’s the only story that actually preserves the origin of the Phoenician characters because there’s no Semitic abjads that have the names Aleph, Betel, Bet, Gamma, which those words in themselves are mnemonics for Alpha, Beta, Gamma, which were written down by actual Greeks in the 5th century BC, long before any Semitic letter names were ever recorded.
yes yeah no i totally agree with that nothing that you said is incorrect right that’s absolutely
absolutely true that’s why it’s so unbelievable that we sit here and we talk about oh well it’s
the greek is pulling that from the hebrew no dude there is no fucking hebrew how many times
do i have to tell you that hebrew is a back translation it’s not existing it doesn’t exist
when any of these languages are developing yeah like the dead seas girls are written in aramaic
they’re not written in hebrew and paleo hebrew is phoenician characters and we know phony so
a folk a semitic language can adopt an alphabet to write its language down that’s what happened
whenever phoenician was discovered because there’s actually scolia that talk about phoenician
characters being used during the trojan war long before phoenician was discovered in the 17th
century by scholars it’s just to keep people in in thinking about the time 1700 is by that time
there’s uh there’s several hundred years of linear b right so just to put just to put that in
perspective right that phoenician is novel compared to that linear b so yeah yeah the very fact that
people put all that emphasis there just blows my mind and you know it’s only to defend it’s only
to defend a false timeline that yes your language is the sacred language that predates all of these
texts and all of these texts come from your language which is chosen it is the chosen
language and that’s what allows you to be the chosen people in the chosen land right when none
of that is fucking existing it’s total tyranny there is so that you can dismiss anybody who
opposes you and so that you can basically retrofit the timeline to fit your narrative
that’s what they’re doing exactly by saying that perpetuating the myth that alpha doesn’t mean
anything in greek and that alif beta gimel come from hebrew and that’s where the greek letters
come from no no they don’t actually come from hebrew no they don’t is there an ancient hebrew
text that has those letter names next to uh an alphabet no there’s not an ugaritic text like that
either there’s not an akkadian one there’s not a phoenician one uh wait where are we getting these
letter names from wait you mean someone in the 18th century was like oh god we got to come up
with some names for these fucking letters or i’m gonna lose my mind and we we took some words from
Aramaic that sounded like
those words, so tau,
aleph, alpha, okay,
let’s just fucking put it in there.
That’s what they did. And I’m sorry
to say it, but that’s what happened.
Alpha, aleph, bet,
gimel, dalet, right? Hey, Vav,
right there, you can
follow the alphabet with the Greek.
Okay, anyway, was that
Pate? I think I heard Pate. Pate, did you want to say
something? That was not a letter name.
Josh and I were working on it yesterday,
last night uh for me um we were just looking at all the sources and we were realizing well he
already knew obviously but we were realizing for the rest of us that there’s really nothing
there’s nothing an ox ox for it’s yeah anyways don’t say it say it i love the i’m sorry i’ve
got my little one behind me trying to talk to me too i love pate’s you can listen to pate’s voice
and hear the it’s almost there’s a deeper contempt for the you know oh like he smells the lie and
he’s like oh god this thing i love it i love it um pay can you please can you please look at those
first 20 lines of i will absolutely and i’m going to dissect it we’ll put it all on soma and we’ll
we’ll do it all together oh perfect yeah if you guys can do it all together on soma that’s
absolutely marvelous. But I want people to see, dig for the cult. Find the cult. The terms in
there, the cult, because we can take those terms and we can plug them into our TLG searches and we
can pull up stuff that you’re going to be shocked about. You’re going to be like, oh, wait a minute,
that’s how this word is used? Oh, and then, and you’re going to be seeing stuff in the Bible
and you’re going to be like, oh, well now that finally explains the Bible. So that’s the way to
go that’s the way to go i’ve also placed oh i’m sorry um i’ve also i’ve also placed other of
yahuda’s um books articles in the file that i sent you i sent you the the system it’s up uh for you
to try it out with chewy here i wrote it’s okay chewy do you know that you know how we can do that
yeah okay okay pate it’s a it’s an honor by the way pate to be able to work with you i know you
you’re doing a lot and I’m just seeing what Josh is doing. And, uh,
you know, again, how do I thank you guys, you know, for representing,
you know, the study of Greek, that’s what we’re doing here.
We’re representing the study of Greek. So you’re doing what you’re already
doing. Yeah. This is perfect. This is what we need.
Yeah. You’re the one that put me on like,
I think you already did a video debunking this a lift.
Like if you look at the shapes, like they don’t even match.
Like, when you line up the, what is it, proto-Sinatic with, they don’t even align.
Like, they don’t even look the same.
There’s other scripts that are under-ciphered that are more interesting that they haven’t touched.
Now you know why a lot of classical philologists, I won’t say all, but you know, a lot of classical philologists turn up their nose at biblical studies.
because the nature of it is so it’s so shoddy but beautiful okay i’d love this time people
let’s do um the same thing thursday with our assignment and i’ll dig deeper and do more
i’ll turn it from 2d into 3d the search and um hopefully we’ll find something that’s like you
know revolutionary and um i want to use the last 30 minutes for questions just for people who have
you know odd questions like you know um what if i don’t want to start now but i want to start
down the line what would you recommend you know stuff like that whatever or hey what’s your
favorite you know what’s your favorite drug from antiquity i don’t know maybe it’s the
yeah jewie says she loves it too so thank you everyone um have a good night and if you want
to continue the discussion um please please realize that next time i want you to come
people from the gallery who have not yet spoken i want to give you a chance to speak up right and
to be part so um that’s what the workshop you know benefit is having this many people
in a in a discord right you ever people are not there to sit there and you know listen just listen
okay people i’m gonna run and thank you thank you for coming tonight uh you’re good and honorable
people, and I’m honored to be here with you. Thank you. Thank you. Good night. Thank you,
Amin. Good night, everyone. Thanks, Amin.
