Video Description
This episode takes a Bible story into the steppes. It shows the modern habit of calling the latest ruler a new Cyrus, then points to the woman who actually finished the first one. The stream tells the story of Tomyris (Τόμυρις), the queen who drew Cyrus into a trap, destroyed his army, and put his head in a bag of blood so he could go on drinking the thing he loved. The episode uses that image to ask who really stops a tyrant.
Ammon Hillman then opens the Greek. It argues that the Medes took their name from Medea, and that Cyrus’s mother was one, which makes the whole empire a branch of her older world. From there the stream moves to the oracles, reading the word engastrimythos (ἐγγαστρίμυθος) as a voice that comes from inside, the same spirit it calls pythōn (πύθων). It ties that voice to the Septuagint, to the women who prophesied from the womb, and to the old commands that they be silenced.
The close brings it back to the queen. The stream calls Medea the Mede-wanassa, the royal title it reads as the true source of the line Cyrus came from, and says she is the Bible’s enemy of God. It ends by treating the whole cycle as one story: whenever a tyrant rises, the old nature answers with a woman who will stop him, and the task now is to wake that voice back up.

Calling Donald Trump Cyrus the Great.
