Video Description
This episode is built around a defender of the church who makes the mistake of wearing a shirt with badly broken Greek on his chest, and Ammon Hillman takes the theological side apart word by word. The main correction is the old claim that a classical philologist cannot handle koinē (κοινή), as if it were a separate language. The answer is the same one the series has given before: koinē is the common Greek, the simple movement inside one language, not a foreign tongue, and the people who teach the two as rivals have borrowed the distinction from seminary rather than from the page.
The real gems are the scholia on Apollonius of Rhodes. Medea stops at a Paphlagonian place and founds a worship of Hekate (Ἑκάτη), teaching the people how to sacrifice, and the commentary reads sacrifice as the fumigations the congregation already knows. A second note names what the Colchians swear by, Uranus and Gaia, which the show turns into a mirror of Genesis, since God makes heaven and earth first. The title is korē (κόρη), the divine virgin and queen of the underworld, the same figure the series calls kora and korwā (κορϝᾱ), and it is Medea who stands as the authority in that place.
The last proofs are pharmacological. A note on the Caspian says the great purple-producing shells supply the Prometheion (προμήθειον) drug, tying the purple dye to the medicine, and the scholia describe songs as epōidai (ἐπῳδαί), chants performed through drugs, the same coupling the series finds in Revelation. The point is made plainly: a Christ is a drug you put in the eyes for vision, which is why the book tells its readers to anoint themselves, and the word the church has put on its banners is the one it cannot define or defend.
