Ammon Hillman points to Luke 22:44, where Jesus is in agonia (ἀγωνία), agony, and his sweat falls like thromboi haimatos (θρόμβοι αἵματος), clotted drops of blood. The claim at the center is that the material on his face is not a miracle but a prepared christos, a pharmacological compound, and that what the translators later turned into theology was, in the Greek, a description of a working substance.
The hour builds the case from older sources. Heracles, not Jason, is said to be the hero of the Argonauts, and the episode reads his death by the poisoned garment as a christing. His wife applied a pharmakon (φάρμακον) mixed with the arrow-poison taken from the hydra, and the verb for anointing is tied to applying that compound. The episode ends on the claim that death and the dragon are the parents of this christing, and that the garden scene only fits together if Jesus is performing a rite the church later handed back as a story about sin.
