Video Description
A seventeen-hundred-year-old Gnostic text describes a light built specifically to trap the people looking for the real one. This video from the Conscious Radical channel reads Pistis Sophia as the oldest surviving map of a deception aimed at the awake, and it is startling how modern the warning feels.
The text itself sits in the British Library as the Askew Codex, written down in the late third or fourth century and almost never read. In it, the aeon Sophia looks upward toward the Treasury of Light and is hated for it. The video draws the old story into conversation with the wellness market and the algorithm, asking whether fake lights still find seekers first.

there is a 1700 year old text about a woman who reached for the light but the light was fake
and she descended into chaos and she fell because she was devoted in searching for something that
she loved but something engineered a trap for people who were awake in searching and the bait
was a counterfeit light how many times have you searched for the light in your life the truth
or your purpose perhaps it was through following a religious or spiritual group
that you then realized was filled with hypocrites or maybe a wellness or self-improvement course
that left you feeling hollow or not enough perhaps you realized that the teachings or messaging just
didn’t ring true to you on a heart or a soul level or you felt that you’d been taken in by a modern
snake oil merchant that just wanted to line their pockets more than to help you find your path
if any of this resonates then this text may apply to you the text i’m talking about today
is called pistis sophia faith wisdom and it’s currently in the british library and known as
the askew codex after the 18th century position whose estate the british museum bought it from
in 1785. it’s coptic and was written down somewhere in the late third or fourth century
and it consists of four books that run to around 350 pages and it’s been in London since before
the French Revolution. Now you may have read this yourself and you would have possibly come across
a standard English translation which was made in 1896 by G.R.S. Mead. Now Mead didn’t work from
the Coptic, he worked from Schwartz’s Latin version of 1851 so effectively he worked from
a translation of a translation but he then rebuilt it using Smith’s work in 1921. Now Mead was
Cambridge educated and he was also the private secretary to Madame Blavatsky. There’s also Carl
Smith’s Coptic edition and Violet McDermott’s English translation of 1978 and all of these
are available for you to read and as always I suggest you do rather than just hearing my take
on it. I’ve used Mead’s translation in this video where the phrasing is beautiful but I’ve also used
McDermott for a deeper level of meaning. There’s also another thing I would like to mention before
we dive into the material. So if you watch the Yadda Bayouf video, the material that’s based on
the secret book or Apocryphon of John, that text offers a different version of this story. In that
version Sophia falls through her overreach she acts alone and creates a being without the
permission of the source and she starts in the 12th aeon but then falls but then is elevated
above her own creation to the ninth as she waits for her error to be corrected which is when humans
are returned to the divine however in Pistis Sophia she starts in the 13th aeon and is deceived
into falling below into chaos now Gnosticism was never a single unified
religion with a single author instead it was rooted in personal and mystical
revelation the Gnostics rejected any formal hierarchy and institutional dogma
so when you see the differences between the texts that to me is evidence of a
living argument what’s interesting is that the earlier text shows Sophia
falling through her own error whereas the later text in Pista Sophia shows a
falling as a result of deception by following a counterfeit light. Sophia is
one of 24 emanations living in the 13th aeon which sits directly above the 12
aeons. Now the 12 aeons represent the lower cosmic regions or dimensions where
the archons, so the cosmic rulers, the tyrants or authorities, do their work of governing the
material universe and managing fate. Sophia looks up and sees the light through the veil of what the
text calls the treasury of light. When Sophia looks up from her own realm to the treasury of the light
she triggers a violent cosmic rebellion. She moves away from what she sees in her realm
and looks up to the light and sings but the archons of the 12 eons see that as a direct
threat to their power the chief antagonist in the 13th eon is orthodes the self-willed power
and he orchestrates her downfall through a targeted deception orthodes emanates a massive
predatory entity with a lion’s face that’s made from himself and he sends it down into the abyss
where it shines, mimicking the brilliance of the treasury of the light. Now Sophia sees this light
shining deep within the chaotic lower waters and she follows it, not realising it’s a counterfeit.
She descends into chaos, alone, without her consort. She is then surrounded by the rulers
or archons who trap her in the chaotic depths and drain her of her original light power
to fuel their own material matrix. The lion-faced thing consumes her light and her stripped matter
is thrust down into the chaos where it becomes a ruler called Yaldabaoth, half fire, half darkness
made from her. It’s the counterfeit and in our world a counterfeit exists when there is something
worth faking. It’s aimed at people who are looking for something real but are misled by the fake.
The purpose of authorities in Pista Sophia is to capture those who are looking upwards towards the
light by creating something that looks real but doesn’t really deliver authentically and that’s
something we could absolutely apply to today’s world. So take the market for well-being and
awakening which is enormous and profitable marketing itself is a tool
designed by people who have studied in detail what makes people tick and what
they need or what they want look at algorithms they’re set to exploit your
desire for awakening by turning the pursuit of wisdom into an endless
profitable loop just like the self-willed power in the Pista Sophia
modern algorithms study your deepest human needs and they project a perfect digital illusion of
fulfillment and at the same time extracts your energy and i am sitting right inside that
algorithm too the pista sphere gives you ways to identify what is real and what is not through
telling a story in the text the real light doesn’t need you to lose altitude because it illuminates
from above the counterfeit light requires Sophia to go down to a place
she wasn’t before while convincing her that she is climbing when you see
clarity but turn to an algorithmic feed you’re forced to lower your
consciousness into the lower waters of the internet you descend into a chaotic
sea of comments outrage ads and short-form dopamine loops the algorithm
tricks you into calling this descent going up you feel like you’re ascending because you’re
learning a new wellness term you’re tracking a manifestation trend or you’re collecting
spiritual facts but in reality your attention has been dragged down into a digital basement
true awakening costs altitude to nobody it doesn’t require a descent into a marketplace or a platform
it’s an immediate vertical alignment with reality right where you are and it
usually requires you to look away from the screen the second test is what the
light does once it catches you the true light empowers and restores Sophia the
counterfeit light consumes it strips her of her inherent light power it extracts
from her and leaves her empty, paralyzed in the mud. Algorithms act exactly like the lion-faced
power. They don’t want to illuminate you, they want to feed on you. They consume your time,
your focus, your emotional stability and your financial resources. And you can identify a
counterfeit spiritual experience by how you feel afterwards. If you finish a scrolling session or
buy into a hyped trend and feel a sense of depletion, anxiety or an urgent need to consume
more to feel whole, you’ve been harvested. The real light leaves you self-sustaining. It doesn’t
create an addiction to the source that gave it to you. It restores your sovereignty and you can tap
back into your own internal reservoir. Unfortunately Sophia couldn’t tell the difference. She saw the
brightness and in her innocence she believed it belonged to the light that
she loved the Pistis Sophia warns us that in a matrix of deception not all
light is life-giving some light is just allure Sophia cries out and repents 13
times now in the original Greek and Coptic context of the Pistis Sophia
repentance is metanoia which is a radical shifting of the mind and a
realignment of vision by framing her 13 repentances as a formal melodic appeal sung upward from the
dark she reveals the ultimate blueprint for breaking out of a predatory system her voice
bypasses the archons and becomes a broadcast that runs directly to the treasury of light
sophia sings 13 times her first cry acknowledges the trap and realizes that the light she chased
was a counterfeit that stripped her of her power she first rises after her seventh cry when jesus
out of compassion and without the commandment of the first mystery leads her into a more spacious
region of the chaos as she sings the archons hold her tighter as they realize they’re losing their
grip on her energy and they press her back down again she continues to sing and each time she
rises but is pressed down again her final cry results in the first mystery the savior finally
hearing her and sending a light stream to cut through the darkness now this serves as a cosmic
anchor or a protective buoyant field which stops the archons from draining her now the pistis
sophia is written as though jesus was telling his disciples what had happened and throughout
his seminar the disciples interpret what he’s saying by matching it to a line from psalms or
the odes of solomon and reading that line is code for what was just described the text describes
mary magdalene mary mother of jesus the other mary salome and martha each stepping forward with a
scriptural passage and decoding it mary magdalene is called blessed above the rest and an inheritor
of the light. Now at one point Salome raises an objection from the law of Moses and the light
power in Mary Magdalene is said to bubble up in her. She asks Jesus for permission to answer
Salome directly and crosses the room to embrace her and then resolves the legal problem. Later
Peter says let the woman stop questioning so that we can question too and Jesus turns to the women
but rather than silencing them, he asks them to give an opportunity to your men brethren that
they may also question. He maintains the structural peace by asking the more advanced students to pause
so the rest of the room can speak. Okay, so now back to Sophia’s rescue. Finally, Gabriel and
Michael are sent down with a light stream to bring her out and they’re given very specific orders.
they are strictly forbidden from letting their own feet or Sophia’s feet touch the floor of the chaos
they must carry her Michael and Gabriel recover the light power that Southwild’s emanations had
taken and they return it all back to Sophia keeping nothing for themselves that is the
discernment test for our modern world does the cure require you to lower your consciousness
into the matrix? If yes, it’s a counterfeit dissent. Does the rescuer pocket a percentage
of your personal power, attention or freedom? If yes, it’s an extraction masquerading as a rescue.
The Pista Sophia stops the story to record these details because it knows how easily human beings
are tricked by anyone holding a flashlight in the dark. It’s reminding us that true liberation
leaves us feeling completely whole, completely debt-free and completely untainted by the system
that you’ve just escaped from. The light power that saved her was formed into a reef around her
head so that from that moment on the emanations could not rob her light again and she sings
that all the matters be shaken yet I shall not be shaken for the light is with me and I myself
and with the light. Most stories of salvation create a debt to whoever saved you. The victim
is saved but now they belong to the saviour. But the Pistis Sophia offers an entirely different
model of liberation. The light stream does not become an external guardrail or a perpetual
subscription service. It becomes a wreath around her head, a permanent localised crystallisation
of her own restored sovereignty the crown of light completely changes the physics of her
relationship with the matrix before she was porous her desire for the light made her vulnerable to
the projected illusion of light which allowed the southworld’s emanations to break her open and take
her light but the reef acts as a personal shield that permanently vibrates at the frequency of the
treasury of the light. The archons can scream, mark it and project all the illusions they want
but they can no longer find an algorithmic hook into her consciousness. The wreath is a crown
and by placing it on her head the text is showing that her rescue is actually a coronation. She’s
not a fragile survivor, she is a ruler being restored to her proper throne. Her final song
is the ultimate declaration of absolute psychological and spiritual detachment when
she sings though all the matters be shaken yet i shall not be shaken she is looking directly at the
material matrix the matters she acknowledges that the physical world the archons the algorithms and
the marketplace are inherently unstable chaotic and volatile but her stability
is no longer tethered to whether the lower environment is calm or turbulent
so the market can crash the algorithms can update the noise can get louder and
the chaos can churn but she is no longer feeding the system and the system can no
longer feed on her. Now we live in a culture that tries to sell us a version of life that keeps us
permanently fragile, requiring us to constantly buy the next book or download the next app or
check the next feed to feel safe and it creates an addiction to the cure. The Pista Sophia points
to the only true exit strategy, an awakening that leaves you entirely self-contained. It’s a process
where your insight becomes a permanent part of your own structure where you are completely immune
to the distractions and extractions of the world around you you can’t buy real discernment it is
something that you need to do by looking at which direction you are being forced to move towards
it’s a slow process where you watch whether the system you found is draining your power
or handing back what was stolen. It requires realising that you need to be fully aware of
what you read or hear. Sophia’s liberation took 13 attempts, it didn’t happen overnight.
She faced 13 slow rounds of being lifted and dropped and lifted again. She was tricked by
an illusion designed to look exactly like home and then she sang from the dark until her hand
reached in that took absolutely nothing for itself. So what does that look like for you?
Just take a moment or two to consider what has been taken from you. What has extracted your light
or your attention? Think about where it’s gone, who or what has taken it and whether it’s ever
been returned to you.
