Video Description
This episode mixes a new song premiere with a case for justice. After the debut of the Oracle with the band Junius, Ammon Hillman plays footage of settlers in a divided Jerusalem and reads the exchange as an example of hubris (ὕβρις), wanting the audience to see a genocidal claim up close. His stated position is that there are two kinds of people, those who commit genocide and everyone who has to stop it.
Then he reaches for history. The stream claims the land was called Palestine from Herodotus onward and that the word Israel is absent from the record until the Greek Septuagint of the third and second centuries BC. He argues the temple the settlers want to rebuild never existed, and that the walls shown in the city are Ottoman construction. The Septuagint is also on screen, where he reads the command to expel seven stronger nations and calls it an ethnic cleansing mandate that later systems inherited.
The Greek section turns to a grammarian, Herodian, and the name Jesus. Hillman reads Iēsous (Ἰησοῦς) in a list of words that begin with iota, where the grammarian is said to treat it as music and meter, connecting Iambos (ἴαμβος) and Dithyrambos (διθύραμβος). The episode also returns to Circe and her rhabdos (ῥάβδος), the rod, and the kykeon (κυκεών), the drink of Eleusis, and ends on the channel’s standing argument: the Christ in the Gospels belongs to a drug-and-song practice, and purple baptism is part of that older rite.
