Ammon Hillman spends the first half on the aftermath of the Bob Larson interview, replaying the moment Bob was asked what a Christ is and could not answer. The episode says the question is not hard; it is the center of the whole argument, and the refusal to read it is what puts the challengers to flight. One clip shows Bob hesitating over a name tattooed on hillman’s head, then identifying Medea as the queen of Babylon, the fountain of witchcraft, and the first Christ. The reply is that Medea is simply the earliest person known to be Christing, and the purgation she ran was a ritual that drugged the city.
The middle works through a grammarian, Herodian, writing under Marcus Aurelius. His lexicon lists drugs that strike the midriff, blapsiphrona pharmaka (βλαψίφρονα φάρμακα), medicine drawn from the same Orphic hymns the mysteries sang. Then the episode stops on the name itself: where a Greek text writes Iesous (Ἰησοῦς), Herodian follows it with the word Eos (Ἠώς), and the channel reads the name of Jesus as the healing, morning-star word used of Asclepius. The iambs of Medea are shown as an actual surviving entry, and the young goddess Aphrodite is defined as a meirax (μεῖραξ), a girl in the bloom, so the gods are teenagers kept ageless by ambrosia.
The close returns to the Book of Revelation and reads it as Greek theology. Urano and Ge, heaven and earth, flee before the white throne; Thanatos (Θάνατος) and Hades (ᾍδης) give up their dead and are thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone. The episode says the brimstone is the purification substance, the seals were drugs, the beast was the theriac, and the devil’s final work is to planeō (πλανάω), to cause the wandering of spirit that the pharmakoi, the drug-users, practiced. The whole apocalypse, in that reading, is the Greek text the church has refused to translate straight.
